I voted (425 now) and I also suggested a showing of it. They probably won't show it, but you never know also I used someone's wording about the vibe in my suggestion. hopefully they at least show it.

I guess it appears more dangerous for Disney than for other studios to release something that could be perceived as offensive...

I just voted, too. Hopefully there will be enough votes for them to atleast show it on TCM.

I didn't vote, but I'd buy a DVD. The first and last time I saw this movie was 21 years ago when I guess it was in the theatre for its 40th anniversary. My aunt took me and my cousin. I remember the "Zip-pe-Do-Dah" song but not much else (hey, it was 21 years ago.....then again, I can vaguely recall seeing "Annie" in the theatre when I was 3).

I think it'd be great if TCM would be able to air it some how.

Disney have allowed the film to be shown on UK tv fairly recently, and if they're willing to do that then they may as wel just put in on general release. As far as I'm aware, angry mobs didn't destroy the BBC after it was shown, and nor have the children become any more racist than before.

we can vote all we want, the decision for something as sensitive as this to be released is in the hands of the big executives.

Also no one raised a fuss the other time it has been shown over the years and no one complained when Disney released it 3 times on VHS.

Song of the South DVD ad home page

Is the ad on the UD home page for the SONG OF THE SOUTH DVD legit? Is this a port from the Japanese laser disc or from another region? I didn't think this title was available in the U.S.

No version of Song of the South on DVD is legitimate, to my knowledge, regardless of where in the world it is found. All of them would be bootleg ports from lasers or VHS.

Google ads tend to randomly pop up some less than legal enterprises...

Has anyone Order "Song Of The South" DVD from this

I want to have Song Of The South on DVD really bad.
I found this website that is selling it for $24.95 and it includes rare bonus features plus a banned cartoon.

The website is: bootleg link removed

Has anyone ordered it from there and how is the DVD? Is it worth the purchase? :)

Thanks

No way, I checked on a website like Bobby's Kids, they had a link to the entire film "Song of the South" which is not a great film to watch. I'm not going to post a link to the entire film SOTS on Bobby's Kids website, stay away from this film, avoid it at all costs.

Don't listen to musicradio.

Song of the South is a fantastic film, and deserves to be watched. I'm not sure about that website, though.

Bought one to tide me over until WD decides to release a Region 1 version. No problems. Go ahead if you want the movie and can't wait for WD to do this film justice.
