Wow this poster is stunning! The Queen is no doubt the most beautiful twist villain ever😍😍😍
UmbrellaFish wrote: Sun Jul 09, 2023 9:51 am Queen Amaya’s design looks great! What a beautiful medieval Queen!
jokes aside, I agree and her design reminds me a bit of the Queen from Maleficent 2

Gotta love that new picture! :) Especially of Queen Amaya, who looks stunning. She looks just as young as the other young Disney mothers and looks like she could`ve been Asha`s older sister :P But her name sounds almost like Quechua.

I don't care for Valentino's or Amaya's designs, tbh. For me, Amaya looks too much like Asha (the faces are the same)--which, that's fine if it turns out she's Asha's mother somehow. Otherwise, hate the Princess Leia hubcap thing with her hair. I've said before that I could see a possibility she's a villain-behind-the-villain situation, but that may be hopeful wishing on my part, just because Queen Amaya is too great of a name to waste on some tertiary character and I do enjoy villainesses more. The mole does make me think of Ursula, but with Vanessa's body.

I saw that some people are confused and now they think that Ashaya is Asha's mother because they look similar.

Prince Kido wrote: Sun Jul 09, 2023 9:18 am New image of Asha, Star, Valentino, King Magnifico and Queen Amaya featured on an italian upcoming puzzle from Clementoni.
The new poses of Asha holding Star and Queen Amaya were shown at Annecy's festival.

Thanks for posting! Here's the link to the puzzle, for anyone interested. Queen Amaya looks quite similar to how I imagined she would be, probably thanks to your description, Prince Kido. The headdress/buns she has on each side of her head remind me of a famous Spanish sculpture called "la Dama de Elche" (The Lady of Elche) (picture below). Perhaps it was inspired by it or similar headdresses from that time period. I personally like that detail as it makes the character more unique and I guess accurate to the setting.

The designs of the human characters is a mixed bag for me. I like the look of Asha, Magnifico and Amaya, but not of her mother, her grandpa, her best friend or the rest of the seven dwarf-inspired characters.

I guess the goat's not horrible, it's those horrible smirking poses in the merchandise combined with the horrible voice from the trailer in my mind coloring my reaction to it at this point. Whether Amaya does turn out to be Asha's mother somehow hidden from her by Magnifico's doing or not, a villainess or not, I'm not going to like the hair whatever the case. It makes me hope she might only be the background character she seems after all.

I'm glad the "Paperman" animation is finally getting the full feature-film treatment, but a part of me does wonder if they're letting the bull out now because it's actually ready or if they just want to hype up this specific film.
Paperman still looks great to me. This might not be the most popular take here, but Wish to me looks like a straight to tv series, not a feature film from Disney.
I don’t really like the style of Paperman or Wish. I just wish they’d either go full hand-drawn or full GCI. When you mix the two you kind of disgrace both.

I also don’t think this has been posted:
In Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Wish,” Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star.

Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.

Paperman looked better than Wish, but I generally agree with your statement.

Those Magnifico and Asha artwork are gorgeous (of course we've already seen the Asha one more or less). The Magnifico one vaguely makes me think of the wall paintings of White Diamond from Steven Universe.

I agree that "Paperman" was a little prettier than Wish, but this is the first full film to use it, and it looks incredible considering, imo. Personally, I think it as well as solo hand-drawn animation both look far better than solo 3D does or ever could, tbh.

What a pretty poster! But the Japanese marketing at Disney has always been good at making beautiful posters. And yes, it reminds me of Tangled, too.

That may even have been deliberate, too, considering all the callbacks in this. For me, she's reaching out to Star in a way that reminds me of the lanterns, and the flowers look almost the same color as the ones on the windowsill of Rapunzel's tower.

Come to think of it, she's even in a purple dress like Rapunzel--but a much nicer shade and better design.

True, but Asha`s dress is way more purple than Rapunzel`s. Rapunzel`s dress was more lighter and almost looked like pink. Asha`s dress is way more darker purple.

Curiously, the Japanese poster also made me think of Tangled for some reason. Yeah, maybe it's the flowers or the purple dress. Asha also looks more CGI than usual here. It's a nice poster.

Ah, yes, after re-watching Paperman I realized that Paperman actually has motion blur, unlike Wish.
