And I'm sorry if I come across as snappy, but I just wanted to make my point.

Like people said we can't really see the original version of Beauty and the Beast cause that version (on the dvd and bluray) has been changed and has many errors. The only version who is true to the original version is the Laserdisc. Maybe one day Disney will decide to release Beauty and the Beast on 4K and it will actually be the correct version.

Yeah, the book was meant as foreshadowing, like Belle is going on an adventure like the books she likes to read.

I didn't like that bit about Romeo and Juliet as well... At least The Beast wasn't douchey about it like in the remake.

That's okay, I understand that it wasn't your intention.

Disney Duster wrote:Oh wow, great explanation! I don't know why people were so dumb to think Aladdin was the story that was Belle's favorite since the pictures show a European romance. But I heard in making the movie it was a possible version of Cinderella. Do we ever know what Belle's favorite story that she reads in the original movie really is?
Yeah, I never understood why people assumed it was Aladdin even if it did fit all the criteria. Cinderella could work if it was the 2015 live-action one, or essentially a fairy tale version that is not equivalent to Walt Disney's 1950 film. The live-action film has the sword fight (Kit fencing) and a prince in disguise (Kit pretending to be an apprentice working at the palace).
Sotiris wrote: Yes, it's Beauty and the Beast. It's called foreshadowing.
This has been suggested as well alongside Sleeping Beauty. In the original BATB story, the Beast is turned into a prince halfway through the book. Someone mentioned that it was Chapter 3 like how Belle says, but I've read the original fairytale myself and I don't remember it being as early as Chapter 3 when Beauty discovers the Beast is the prince. That might be the first chapter that she dreams of the prince though which could also count as meeting him. Sword fights aren't really in the story but the prince's mother does go off to war so I guess that could count. There might have been something with sword fights featuring the human king (Beauty's real father).

I really hated the Beast's reaction to Romeo and Juliet in the 2017 film. He was already very OOC for my taste but that was the clincher.

Guys, please do not be mean to me in the way you say things like "it's called foreshadowing". If you meant no condesension then alright, but that's what it sounded like. When I was a child I thought she was reading an alternate version of her own story, Beauty and the Beast, but people here also said that in making of, behind the scenes stuff, they were thinking of or actually did make the story Cinderella. Obviously not the Disney animated Cinderella.

Yet apparently people who liked to imagine it's a wink to Aladdin are "dumb" and "reaching"? Yeah, sure. We're not allowed to like things that are not Cinderella.

What I didn’t like about the animated scene for “Human Again” was that the Beast not knowing or remembering how to read was too unbelievable. Still, I love the song and I'm happy to have a version of it with the original talent.

I saw a poster for the new Nancy Drew film with Sophia Lillis. She would've been a great Ariel. I hope her star continues to rise, since I think she's really talented.

A) I never said you're not allowed to like things that are not Cinderella so don't put words in my mouth, especially when I said as a child I always thought it was Beauty and the Beast she was reading, not Cinderella. B) I was saying people did a dumb thing, not that were dumb. C) I never directed my post at anyone here. The post I am talking about was directed at me. I should get an apology. If you were offended by my Aladdin remark, I apologize to you.

Hey Duster,
If I offended you when I said the book was meant as foreshadowing then I apologise. It wasn't my intention to be mean to you. A film can have different interpretations and I can see how Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty fit since both Cinderella and Aurora didn't know it was the prince when they first met him.

I really deeply thank you for the apology, even though I don't think I felt you were directing anything mean at me, so it's alright. It was the way Sotiris said his post that made me feel like he was directing a condescending post personally at me like I was dumb.

Duster, I didn't say it condescendingly; I was being sincere. I understand why it may have appeared that way but it was unintentional.

Oh, ok, I deeply and sincerely thank you for telling me. I was really sad. But now I feel better knowing the truth. Sorry that I read what was not there.

Zendaya dyed her hair red as a homage for her role as MJ in Spider-Man, but fans speculated that it might be a hint that she's playing Ariel. Zendaya has outright stated that this is just a rumor so once again she's denying her casting.

That is a pretty perfect shade of Ariel red.

Not knowing who Disney is casting as Ariel is very frustrating to me. I hope it is revealed at D23 or sooner.

She is clearly flirting with the media / rumour mills about it though, as it is pretty darn on the nose. There isn't anything wrong with it certainly, why not court it !

The shade is lovely, and she really does suit it as well.

That’s red? Okay… Looks just as close to brown.

That's Auburn. Which is browny red.

I agree Atlantica, it suits her and she looks fabulous! Though it would need to be even redder for the movie.

Its about as red as natural human hair will get. Are you really expecting fire engine red hair in this?

Gah, this is my fear. They’ll make Ariel wear some oversaturated Kool-Aid red wig. It might work under the sea, depending on what the palate for that world is... but when she’s human she needs realistic, non-distracting hair and Zendaya’s red hair is the perfect shade for her skin tone. Any redder would be too much.
