Interesting. I never pay any attention to critics, to be honest.

Mainly because they think that they're some sort of experts when it comes to movies, when in reality, they're just expressing their opinions. But their arrogance in stating these opinions make me totally ignore them.

The reason I compiled that was to compare what the critics seemed to like with what audiences liked, because to me the audience should be more important to Disney than the critics in regards to the remakes if making money is their goal (and we know it is, they have to see the remakes as easy cashgrabs and nothing more). The critics wanted the remakes to vary widely like
Mulan and the audience hated it; audiences loved
Aladdin while the critics started taking their disdain over the remakes out on that film.
Like you, I don't attach more weight to critics in general either. I'll like what I like regardless of what anyone says (and dislike what I dislike, too). I think if you find a critic you agree with on most of their reviews, that's when you start to attach value to what they recommend seeing.

Emma Stone is nominated for Best Actress at the Golden Globes.

^I had forgotten she still had chances at awards like the Golden Globes. She'll
compete with the star of another Disney film in the category, Rachel Zegler for
West Side Story.

She was amazing in this movie, and played the character really well!

This movie is ranked #1 in the GoldDerby odds to win best costumes at the Academy Awards. I've seen a lot of its competition, and I think this would be a very worthy winner in that category.

I thought the costumes were great enough for an Academy Award as well.

Cruella has been
nominated for Best Costume Design and Best Makeup & Hairstyling at the Oscars.

I'm glad it was finally nominated for costume design. I hope it wins, in my opinion it's the best in the category. And it's great it also got a makeup and hairstyling nomination.

With the nominations official, I think Cruella should definitely win Best Costumes. I think I would give makeup and hair to a different film (probably Tammy Faye) as I think they slightly missed the mark with some of Emma Stone's wigs.

Cruella would get my vote for costume design. In addition to being really creative and inventive, they play such an important role in the story and in showing Cruella's journey.
I am currently expecting Dune to sweep through most of the crafts categories, similar to what films like Mad Max: Fury Road and Gravity have done in previous years. So I think that's Cruella's biggest competition. West Side Story also poses a possible threat.

Cuella won Best Costume Design at both the
BAFTA and the
Critics' Choice Awards. It also received the award for Excellence in Period Film at the
Costume Designers Guild Awards recently. This makes it the frontrunner for the Oscar in that category. Makeup and Hair went to
The Eyes of Tammy Faye in both cases, though.

I agree
Dune is its biggest competition in the category. The film was also one of the winners at the Costume Designers Guild Awards (Excellence in Sci-Fi / Fantasy Film). But I'm quite confident
Cruella will take home the Oscar.

It won. I did like some of the costumes (particularly the one that was never worn--the setup dress for Emma Thompson), so that's fine.

It's true. The other two are
Alice in Wonderland and
The Jungle Book, right?

Yes.

Alice in Wonderland, The Jungle Book and Cruella are among the best ones, in my opinion (though I don't think any of the three are perfect either), so I'm glad those have been the ones to get awards.
