well, not really, I mean, the only slipcover I have is the one from Bambi and is all what I could ever ask

I always buy DVD with slipcover

I think slipcovers are the biggest piece of garbage ever created!

I mean take Bambi for example. It is one of the greatest and most well love not just animated films, but films of all time! The DVD has been wonderfully restored, there are hours of extensive material on the DVD. HUndreds of rare archival pictures and footage. And yet some people refuse to by it, because so far they haven't seen a copy with a slipcover yet!

Even worse is the Walt Disney Treasures DVDs

These DVDs hold some of the most valuable stuff Disney have ever made. They are quite possibly amongst the most valuable, brave, and imortant DVD releases from any studio ever. Disney took a brave step in choosing to release a comprehensive series on DVDs, featuring some of the world's most beloved characters doing uncharacteristic things, whether they be social stigma, racism or making fun of Hitler. Some of the stuff has been wonderfully restored and has not seen the light of day for 60 years, and may not see the light of day again for another 60 years. There are some who cannot believe how lucky they are that they have these on DVD and probably thought that it was a dream that would never happen. And instead of going nuts at how great this is, all the majority of people can do is whine because there tins don't have a number on it. Who the f*** cares what number it is. Just enjoy the frigging DVD for crying out loud!!!

IMO anyone who chooses not to buy a DVD because they haven't yet found a copy without a pathetic bit of cardboard round it, needs their head testing!

Even when I have it with slipcover that´s because it was a gift but I originally buy it without it

That's exactly I do. I buy DVDs when I want it to look good on my shelf, and then watch the movie. I just want to impress friends with my sparkling DVD collection

I'm glad that Disney is using holographic slipcovers now. The ones that just duplicate the coverart are pretty pointless.

I see Bambi with and without a slipcover.
I want to buy Mulan at some point and if I was worried about having a perfect slipcover, I would have to pay $20.00 plus tax, while I can buy it new online for $12.00 plus $2.50 for shipping, it may even have a slipcover, just no way to know the condition of the slipcover or if it will look nice by the time it reaches home.

I decided to no longer worry about slipcovers (they still look nice) due to wanting to own all slipcovers that come with any movie I own, since slipcovers appear to being done for just about every movie now days, I know it will be cheaper and easier to no longer worry about it or paying extra to find the perfect one.

It is only about the movie now.
(Of course the outher wraparound incert cover)

I love that Disney will send missing slipcovers to customers. I got slipcovers on all my Disney DVDs that were supposed to have them when I bought them, except Sleeping Beauty, and thankfully, I now have that one too.

It's half-and-half for me.

If a movie initially comes with a slipcover, sure, I'd like to buy it with one. But if I find it without one after months or years of searching, then I can do without it.

And of course, there's the case of unnecessary slipcovers which I don't care for at all and if I buy a DVD with one I'll consider myself lucky.

Some of the more creative slipcovers (book ones, Dirty Dancing UE, I Robot, etc.) are essentials when getting the DVD. But if it's just a crappy cardboard sleeve that's just like the cover, why bother at all?

It seems like everyone on this forum has all the DVDs with slipcovers...lol

I use my slipcovers as kind of a ranking system for my DVDs. For the films that are excellent and considered classics (the animated classics, PIXAR, or other blockbuster films), I consider slipcovers a necessity for that DVD. I feel it makes the DVD and the movie look really special and gives it that sort of "epic" look. For the lower films, like the chea- uh...I mean sequels from Disney, I buy them without a slipcover, to show the difference in the quality of the movie.

Gawd, I love the coverart pop-out slipcovers liek Spaceballs and POTC (though that now is hard to find with a slipcover).

WB had started releasing some movies with useless slipcovers, such as the cheap-upgrade of Miss Congeniality and a couple catalog titles like the Bringing Up Baby and Philadelphia Story 2-discers. I hate that they got rid of the digipaks for their two-discers. It seemed to give it more "clout" over a standard one disc. Imagine my shock and despair when I saw that the new James Dean collection box-set (2-discs of Rebel, East of Eden, and Giant) were all the standard amarays that they use now. And Giant was originally a digipak. Oh well, at least it's a nice-looking box set nonetheless. Still gotta buy it, but I'm gonna shop around for a cheaper price before forking over $70 to Virgin Megastore.

Pasta and Escapay made me realize that SLIPCOVERS with a hologram or that pop out are or are like that of I, Robot's 1-Disc release are definitely cool!

I wish they made all slipcovers like that..they'd be worth owning.
Now, the one's that just duplicate the cover that don't even form a book aren't so appealing. O_o

I couldn't find the big thread about the definate list of Disney DVDs that come with slipcovers.

I like the glossy and shiny slipcovers and how the open like a book. I rather read the slipcover than the back of the DVD case. I'm weird.

I try not to get the slipcovers wet or bend them. The velcro is nice because it fastens the flip to the main body of the slipcover.

Truth be told, I'd rather search harder and seek a DVD with a slipcover because it looks great and protects the DVD case, but I can live without 'em (most of my collection doesn't have slipcovers).

DisneyFan 2000 does bring up a good point: the cardboard slipcover can protect the DVD case.

I'll have to stop by Best Buy and look for some holographic slipcovers. Thanks for the info Luke!

I find that they're really just extra packaging. They become scratched if you keep sliding them in between two under cases and if you want to keep them, they're ultimately another thing to box up and throw in the attic. I order a lot from Hong Kong and it appears many DVDs have slipcovers. I keep them but they're nothing special and actually annoying to find space for.
