We already knew the deleted Cauldron Born scenes wouldn't be here. This is nothing new.

I think you'd either have to be a Disney employee or a secret agent to see them.
But seriously, I hope those scenes weren't destroyed.

Well, i dont think the Black Cauldron is the only one with that problem of nobody knowing whatever became of deleted scenes.. Im on this one Land Before Time forum and i've heard things about deleted scenes from the first movie and nobody knows if those scenes are still in tact or not..
But i hope they haven't been 'Destroyed'! Although if they have been destroyed, how come we are able to see those pictures when we look them up?

I just received this DVD today (yes, I know it's 2 weeks early), and I'm a little underwhelmed with the packaging. Usually the animated movies come in a nifty slipcover, but no such thing here. They do make a note on the back cover that it's printed on recycled paper, so maybe that's why they ditched the slip cover.
But if anyone else do spot a slip cover somewhere, let me know

I went to buy this DVD today and noticed there were no slipcovers on it. It was more expensive in store as well so I chose to order it online instead. I haven't seen this movie in years so I am looking forward to getting this one

I think the pictures you are referring to are the actual production cels that went up for sale or auction (I think), and that is where we all saw the images of the guard being "dissolved by the mist" or something like that. In other words, they were the original artwork used in production of the movie, and not stills from the finished production.
Only 2 weeks until the US release!

NO SLIPCOVER? THIS IS THE SHODDIEST EXCUSE FOR A SPECIAL EDITION EVER.

Any coupons for this one?
Kinda surprised there was an early coupon for Beauty and the Beast.

Does it really matter if there's a slip cover or not?

It sounds like he was joking in a way, but a slipcover-less DVD in my whole collection WITH slipcovers looks retarded. Some people don't care about slipcovers, some think they are worthless, some (like me) think they make the DVD packaging and their personal collection look nicer.
It's just weird that Disney randomly decides this release won't have a slipcover after all these years of them giving a slipcover to every release.

And we're likely to get one of those cheap "less plastic" DVD cases no doubt.

It's an eco case, yes.
Technically it says its an "Eco Box" inside the case.

It's a "piece of crap" case that fails to protect the data side of the DVD, where the protection needs to be - this is referring to those cases that have the cutouts on the back covers.

So it's one of these cases:
That's a shame

I mean, I am all for preserving resources, but these cuts are probably more likely done with the intent to increase the profit margin instead of saving the rainforest. And, in the end, the customer rarely sees the benefit, like a lower price, and instead pays them same price for less of a product.
I guess we could always switch out the case with a regular one if we really wanted to. It seems so easy to accidentally puncture the paper or the plastic sleeve in the areas that aren't backed by the plastic case.

I was hoing for this on Blu ray/DVD combo pack, but this will do. Better have a release than no release at all. This movie is magnificent and I hope Disney realizes this one of these days.

MJW, the case isn't quite that drastic. It uses a thinner plastic than we are used to and has the recycling symbol on the left hand side, but nothing is cut out of it. The only studio I've received a cut out eco case from so far has been Fox.

Just to let everyone know the James and the Giant Peach Blu-ray case was also made of recycled paper and there is a logo on the back of the case. It's still sturdy but not as sturdy as a regular case.

heey, here in the netherlands the dvd actually has a slipcover, maybe the uk also has(dont know?), but is still in an eco-box. unfortunately there are no dutch sites that ship to US, and if they did the dvd would still be not playable in region 1 players...

I wish this would hurry up and be released to major stores in the US so we can solve this slipcover mystery. I would really like a slipcover for this release because the cover art is beautiful and it would look awesome and shiny.

unfortunately the slipcover is not shiny, its like the one pete's dragon has, simple and plain, so no holograph or 3d things...
