Yes, that's considered "hacking", but it's perfectly legal (except the WAD manager stuff I mentioned), and there are some really good homebrew games. Including a port of Doom. (You heard right, play Doom using the Wii Zapper! Yay!) Plus, who doesn't like using the Wii Remote as a level?
I've thought about installing the Homebrew so I can play some imports (Tatsunoku Vs. Capcom is the main one). I'm just afraid I'll mess up the Wii or somehow Nintendo will find out I have it and ban my Wii from downloading stuff on WiiShop and playing online games.

I wished there was a easy way to play imports on the Wii without having to "hack" your console.

As of yet, I have not heard about people being banned just for having the Homebrew Channel on there. There were some people who got banned because they were cheating on Mario Kart Wi-Fi, but that's a different story.

But no, they really can't find out. Especially if you turn off the WiiConnect24 "connect when the Wii is turned off" option.

As far as playing imported games, there is the FreeLoader, but one of the updates disabled it so you'd have to downgrade it to use that (and to do that you need Homebrew Channel... ah, sweet catch-22s!)
