Matangi's song
"Get Lost" and Maui's
"Can I Get A Chee Hoo?" have been revealed in full performed by Barlow & Bear at an event about the film's songs.
To be honest,
Get Lost was very mediocre and forgettable.
Can I Get A Chee Hoo? was slightly better, but it was still different that I`ve imagined it. Cause I was expecting it to be more upbeat and energetic. But hey, these versions are just acoustic piano versions, after all.

• New
clip at the beginning of this interview with Hualalai Chung (the voice of Moni) and producer Christina Chen. Here's another
interview with both of them.
• A cappella version of
"We're Back" performed by the Japanese voice cast and some international versions of "Beyond" (the end credit version). The first one features new footage.
Hungarian version
Czech version
Polish version
German version
Italian version
French version
Spanish version
Portuguese version
Hebrew version
Russian version
Kazakh version
Slovak version
Turkish version
Tagalog version
Indonesian version
Thai version
Korean version
Chinese version
Japanese version
• And some worrying news. Apparently, the
review embargo doesn't lift until the day before release, which isn't usually a good sign.
The
Japanese ones also include a poster of Moana's crew members Moni, Loto and Kele.
Interesting interview. Thanks for sharing!

I agree, I found them underwhelming too, especially "Get Lost." "Can I Get A Chee Hoo?" is OK, but it's no "You're Welcome." Though, I think they tried to imitate Lin-Manuel Miranda's style a bit with that one. But, you're right, perhaps the film versions will be better.

This article forgets that the social media embargo lifts on Friday, 4 days before reviews drop.
Also, having the review embargo drop a day before GLOBAL release doesn’t mean the film will suck when Disney did the exact same thing for all of their 2024 releases so far, including Deadpool & Wolverine, Inside Out 2, Alien: Romulus, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, The First Omen, and Agatha All Along. And they all turned out to be fine and do well.
I doubt things will be different with Moana 2 when people like Empire City Box Office on Twitter, which I quit from, yesterday, is saying he heard it’s great:
https://x.com/EmpireCityBO/status/1857079796510986522.
Seems to me like Disney is just not taking their chances after their mostly disastrous results of their 2023 film slate.

https://youtu.be/Ye05dMYZNCQ?si=FpVRoODrR9uWU6kx What makes the song so bad in a Wish way is that as the video already states is that the lyrics are so vague, that it doesnt even connect specifically to the movie at all, unlike How far ill go
But Beyond has nothing... only the very last verse lines where the songwriters are lucky enough to implement a song that already existed lol. Also Villainess song is forgettable but Cheeho sounds...interesting.
Im just happy that atleast Frozen 3s music will be superior than this thing, Lopezes are great Songwriters. They know how to write character driven music and even elevated movies that had no plot with Show Yourself ItU or Tnrt. By the way their newest song down the Witches Road is quite catchy and the Agatha series was actually great! What was great is that u dont even had to watch Wandavision to fully understand this one, it was almost its own thing which i loved. Huge points for the absence of stupid cameos and references. All the characters were quite interesting and the way the Road challenged them... Yeah i needed an excuse to yap about Agatha sorry not sorry

Interesting didnt knew Agathas review embargo was lifted once the show aired! One of the most interesting fantasy series and that comes from someone who hates Marvel
My expectations are already below my ass but I hope atleast Moan 2 will have something spoiler worthy that impacts the state of the franshise, unlike Iced 2 which only gave us a magic forest and thats it

Oh, I didn't know that. Well, that's a relief. Actually, now I see that in the article I posted they do mention this, but I didn't read it in full. The one Jules posted doesn't, though. It's an interesting strategy on Disney's part.

I agree the lyrics are not very strong, although they may work better in the context of the movie. The melody is quite good, though, in my opinion.
By the way, I agree with you about
Agatha All Along. It was the best Marvel series in a long time and I really liked the song from the Lopezes as well. They're not my favorite Disney composers, but I think they're talented and I particularly admire how they're able to write something that works in different styles, like they did for example with "Remember Me" in
Coco or now "The Ballad of the Witches' Road" and all its versions.

Well isn’t this a nice way to start off the last half of the month. Gettin’ an autograph from Moana herself Auli’i Cravalho after finishing up press at The View for Disney’s Moana 2, on my Moana 2 pin I got at D23 in August. If that ain’t enough, I let her know I was rooting for her film heavily, in the hopes its success would get Tiana’s Disney+ series to be turned into a theatrical sequel to The Princess And The Frog, a sequel that is also fully hand-drawn animated, for movie theaters.
Believe it or not, she actually was on my side & said she was a big advocate for more movies of hand-drawn animation to be made, saying “we need more of them to come back.” I was not expecting her to say that, but I was pleasantly surprised and delighted to hear her say that.
And after hearing her say that, before I left, I let her know I was glad to hear her say she was an advocate for a future for hand-drawn animation, along with reminding her that the original Moana was supposed to be hand-drawn when Musker and Clements were announced to direct it, only for Iger and Lasseter to say to them “sorry, but we can’t allow that,” to which she said “oh yeah, I know all about that,” and then I finished my quick chat with her by thanking her and wishing her fun to have ahead of Moana 2’s release and she said “thanks, hope you enjoy the movie,” to which I said “I hope to enjoy it too. Good luck.”
Also, a lot of people who also got autographs from Auli’i let her know of their support for the recently cancelled, cliffhanger-left Disney Channel series she starred as a voice in known as Hailey's On It, which I also joined in with by saying how big a shame it was they cancelled it.
So, all in all, pretty good beginning to the final half of the penultimate month of the year for me.

New clips from
"We're Back" and
"Beyond." Dwayne Johnson has also shared a
promo featuring a bit of "Can I Get a Chee Hoo?." Another snippet of the song can be heard in this
featurette. I think his version sounds better than the live performance by the composers. However, I don't know how I feel about the background vocals in "Beyond." They're a bit distracting to me.
Here are some more videos:

Beyond was nothing more than fine but the music for this is absolutely atrocious. There's nothing worse than Lin Manuel Miranda wannabes.

Except they’re not trying to be wannabes, they’re trying to be the next evolution for Moana songwriters.

yesh theyre not my faavvv songwriters (honor goes to Menken with either Ashmen or Slater) but they definitely know how to write great narrative driven tunes which are extremely catchy too. So far F3 has a few advantages
From the creators of Mauis tweeting joke,
We now get Mauis beautiful continuation: "Butt dial"
A beautiful way to expand the lore
I WISH i could have seen The Wild Robot but my theatres never had wider screens for that one and only had like the smallest screens which is sad. Good thing is i heard it has a bittersweet ending so I hope tWR will take the Animation Oscar and whatever movie outthere had a listenable song with lyrics that make sense will be Best Original song so Disney can get Busy hiring people that know how to write songs for musical theatre next time
After all, Ashman & Menken, the Lopezes and LMM had their experiences with Broadway before joining the Disney Empire

I`ve listened to the songs on Spotify today and I must say that I liked them. Despite how, just as with it`s predecessor, most of them were reprises or variations of their previous songs. But overall, it was a better soundtrack than the first Moana. However, my favorites were Beyond, We`re Back, Mana Vavau, My Wish For You and especially What Could Be Better Than This, who was infectiously catchy. Can I Get A Chee Hoo was surprising, as it wasn`t as peppy and ubeat as You`re Welcome, but rather low-key compared to the former song. My least favorites were Get Lost, who was bland and forgettable and We Know The Way, which was melodically inferior to it`s counterpart from the predecessor in every single way. But otherwise, it was a good soundtrack. Can`t wait for the rest of the score to be released.
Btw, I bought the Junior Novelization and it`s disappointing how it lacked stills from the movie. Just drawings with descriptions of the new characters.

Im really struggling to determine whether I like the new music. I guess it’s impressive that stylistically it seamlessly matches the style of the original. And it’s better than Wish.
Maybe I just need to watch the film and see it in context.
