I just realised that the voices in the trailer are from a Disney Read-Along story book for 'Sleeping Beauty' that I have. I don't know why they used that instead of the original voices in the movie .. .. but oh well, thats Disney for you !

Does anyone know yet if Sleeping Beauty PE will be the correct 2.20:1 aspect ratio, or the false one of 2.35:1 that they did for the SE?
If I'm misinformed about the aspect ratio, please let me know, and where you got your info from. I refuse to purchase movies in the wrong aspect ratio.
By the way, I just recently registered on this forum, as I only discovered it a couple of months ago, and it has been a useful source of info so far.

It's hard to say at this point since Disney hasn't issued a press release. Most of Disney and Lowry's other restorations actually add a sliver of picture more, so that may be the case here as well. If I remember correctly, the "before and after" comparison in the new DVD trailer showed more vertical picture on the "restored" side, so that should bode well for a 2.20:1 release.

Sleeping Beauty has been added to the "Coming Soon" section of DisneyDVD.com and it is labeled as the 50th Anniversary, Platinum Edition!

Thanks Disneykid! Hopefully your memory is correct on that.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to adding this to my collection.

The specs at
DisneyDVD.com say the AR will be 2.55:1; take that for what it's worth.

I'm really looking forward to this release! I missed out on the special edition so I can't wait to finally get this on platinum
I watched the trailer as well and wondered why they didn't have the original voices I know Disney has done this quite a few times for the trailers, but seems very odd to me. I hope when they do special features, they might do a spotlight on the cast. I was looking at deviantart and actually found this tribute, and didn't realise just how much the actors in this movie performed in -

I tried making me own Blu-Ray cover:

That cover could be very pretty with a background of clouds like in the movie poster.

It's nice, but I don't quite like the soft colors or the dull curves. The background of the sky is very nice, maybe better with some sharper colors, but it's quite nice.

Wow, I never thought anybody else other than a few people on DA ever even saw some of my Disney tributes or my page. I'm glad that you liked it! I love the whole cast of this film, and amazed at all their work they've done through the years.

Geez, I hope not. If so, I'll wait another half decade till they get it right. I'm already going to have to wait on the Jungle Book since Disney screwed up that one.
And yes, I understand those movies from that time were animated in the academy ratio with the intent of being matted in theatres capable of matting them, and those that couldn't showing the unmatted version.
At the very least, they should have included both. Anyway, I'm getting off topic. I will not purchase SB if in the incorrect ratio.

Atlantica, do you have any idea what the name of the Disney read-along book is, or what version it is? After reading Mouse Tracks, I just like to collect different read along albums and CDs from different years and hearing the different performances.
I have a CD copy of the read-along album that was released in 1977, but didn't know they did a recent one where they had the newer voices like Tress MacNeille as Merryweather or Susan Blakeslee as Maleficent. I'd love to find out any information on it.

I sent an autograph request to Mary Costa, and I also asked if she was doing anything new for the new release. And she sent back an adorable Disney Princess note informing me that she had just recorded a new interview for the DVD/Blueray edition. And how it's going to look it's best. Just thought I'd want to pass it along. She's so cool.

I am one of Mary Costa's biggest fans. I've always admired her work. Words cannot describe the influence she has had on my life. May I ask how you got into contact with her, and if you'd be willing to share any contact information? My e-mail is
mikeg831@aol.com
It vwould mean the world to me. Thank you so much, I truly appreciate any help.

It's simply called Disney Princess Magical Read Along: Sleeping Beauty. It's a book with a CD attatched to it, and its an all new recording. Lots of Disney movies over here have had new recordings; Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan etc. The Princess ones are really good mates to the originals, but why they didnt use the originals, goodness knows!

Thank you so much for the info, Atlanticaunderthesea! I'll have to see if I can find and track down a copy. The only read alongs on CD I've seen available here in the states of Sleeping Beauty is the old one from 77.
