Late reply, but oh well. By the time Disney actually releases something like that they will have invented time machines and Disney can just go back and make it run 44 minutes.
Up next- Gargoyles and Mary Poppins.

Disney Time Capsule What happened in 1996?
Isn't it a couple of decades too soon for that? Most of us here were already old enough to remember the goings-on back then, and little kids today wouldn't care: they weren't born yet or were too young to take in pop culture.

I would care! I was born in 1996, and I would defintely watch something like that.
Well, for my DVD, it would have to be a Platinum Edition of Hercules.

Onto that, I would have a "A Muppet History"-an interactive feature in the same vein as the Hyperion Studios Tour on the Snow White disc, but concerned with how the Muppets evolved over the years, as well as never-before-seen footage and BTS materials and glimpses at Jim Henson's other works.

Here's something I've thought of for Disneyland's 60th anniversary in 2015:
Disneyland Goes To Disneyland
(The name sounds kind of redundant, but actually it refers to episodes of the Disney anthology series (AKA Disneyland the show) being set at Disneyland (the place).)
Cover Art: A 1950s TV with the title for the Disneyland TV show on it. Tinkerbell is off to the side, her trail flying off the screen and into colorized reality. On the TV under the screen is the word "Goes To" and underneath that is the word "Disneyland" in the more common font seen today.
Disc 1:
Tech Specifications:
-All New Digital Transfers
-1.33:1 Full Screen
-Optional English, French, and Spanish Subtitles
Episodes:
--The Disneyland Story (October 27, 1954)
--A Progress Report/Nature's Half Acre (February 9, 1955)
--A Pre-Opening Report From Disneyland (July 13, 1955)
--A Trip Through Adventureland/Water Birds (February 29, 1956)
--Disneyland the Park/Pecos Bill (April 3, 1957)
Bonus Features:
--Promotional Art Gallery
Disc 2:
Tech Specifications:
-All New Digital Transfers
-1.33:1 Full Screen

I would definitly add a documentary of the film's music (with interviews with Hans Zimmer and Lebo M), and an extensive documentary on the production team's research trip to Africa
And I believe EVERY Disney film should have an extensive catalogue of all the posters, toys, books, and promotional items ever made for the film. I would like to go through and see all The Lion King merchandise ever made for the film cause I certainly cant remember everything I own (toys, books, bedsheets) I had a ton of TLK stuff back in the day.

Good idea for the lion king. I still can't believe it's only a year and 4 months until the lion king diamond edition on blu Ray and DVD. It's way too popular to postpone and would make a good fourth quarter sale, along with Cars. 2
