Oh that's super depressing. I had high hopes for BATB in 4K coming out in a few months.

I had as well. But it still might be released, just not listed.

I hope so and I also hope we hear more about the Signature Editions for The Jungle Book and Fantasia sometime soon.

Disney has done BATB a great disservice all these years and for that matter, Cinderella and Alice in Wonderland too. As glad as I am that they finally fixed The Sword in the Stone on 4K, I have to admit that it's shocking that a C-List Disney film which has maybe not even a handful of fans in the whole world got better treatment than three bonafide classics. If I had to throw one of these films to the wolves, I'd sacrifice The Sword in the Stone in a heartbeat.

This is just a theory of mine but I think Disney is aware that The Sword in the Stone was messed up and that's why they worked on it or The Black Cauldron which never got an HD master before D+. I think TSitS Blu-ray got really bad reviews while Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland and Beauty and the Beast were praised so that might have factored into their decision.

Skyler Shuler: As far as I know the Phoenix does NOT speak, but neither did Iago in Disney’s live-action Aladdin until a last minute change.

Disney is apparently most embarrassed about their restoration for The Sword in the Stone to the point that they wouldn't even use screencaps or gifs from it on their social media accounts. So I can see why they felt the need to restore it and went all the way to 4K rather than eventually have to do it again. The Black Cauldron must be one they're sitting on. I'm assuming that the real classic films will all eventually get proper 4K restorations when Disney decides to release them on physical whenever that will be.

The Phoenix I honestly hope doesn't speak. Usually in films, phoenixes don't speak anyway so it would seem a little jarring unlike they cast a very majestic voice.

@Sotiris: We've known that for a while, but as for the comparison to Iago, I don't expect the phoenix to get a last minute change here.

I actually do have a problem with that, especially with Cinderella which was a straightforward adaptation and not a reimagining.

I thought Cinderella was in-between a straightforward adaptation and a reimagining. I actually think Disney used the term reimagining in promotion.

I love the soundtrack but only out of love for the film. I think the actual songs are not on par with those of Snow White and Bambi. I consider those the best of Walt Disney's music, and that's why I wish the music was as good as those, because I see them as the best. But I now see the soundtrack as some of Disney's best, even if not in the very top.

Just saw the trailer in cinemas...really gorgeous look.. since it will steer away from it's animated counter part it has me intrigued. So glad they went for an Asian actress!

I'm glad to see someone else is interested in something different from the original animated film. But what did you expect they were going to cast her as, a white woman?

Yeah, I can't remember either. But with how the film didn't have any of the music of the original and even went as far as to make Cinderella's real name Ella, as well as reading they intended this to be the definitive live-action version of Cinderella, I see the film as both a remake of the 1950 film and a new version of the Cinderella story, and not a straight-up remake. But you have your opinion and it's different and that's alright.

Well.. since Ariel is going to be portrayed by a person of color...anythings possible with Disney

Not the same thing. Casting a black actress is seen as progressive, while casting someone other than Asian for Mulan will only bring backlash.
