That doll is so pretty. I always thought Jasmine suited pink. If I was a doll collector...(or at least had room...and money)
I wish we got another Disney musical over in the West End. We had Beauty and the Beast ages ago and Lion King is still running at least.
I'd actually jump at the chance to see BatB on stage again. All I have is an old family VHS of the production in Disneyland Paris.
I hope this does well on Broadway and then I might have a chance of seeing this. It's my favourite Disney film so I'm hopeful. The theatre is expensive but I would consider it worth the money to see this.

That doll is stunning!
Product pages for the new merch:

I wish it was more likely that she'd be in stores--I've never had good luck with getting dolls undamaged from the online store. :/

I've never been a big fan of human plushes. I always think they look weird.

Ha, I so want to go. My campus is in the city, so I could leave right now if I wanted to.
But going to a musical by yourself is depressing.
Edit: oh pooh, today's Monday. No shows for me regardless.

It depends on the designs to me. Some human characters translate well to plushes, but Disney's usual look for humans typically don't.

The cast will be performing Prince Ali live from the theater on April 15th, it will be airing on the View at 11 am EST on ABC.

Not the song I would have chosen, the staging was underwhelming... I wonder why they didn't choose Friend Like Me, it's definitely the showstopper of the production!

I think the Jasmine plush looks pretty good. Aladdin looks way off though. The Jasmine doll is very pretty. I love the pink.

I've never liked plushes. The only ones I have are animals like Flounder. I do have Ursula, but she looks psychotic. Which I guess is in-character, but still...

Oh, I'm glad! I know it's nothing like seeing it live in a theater, but since that's not possible for me, it's nice that something's going to be aired and it's my favorite song, too.

I'm glad I didn't.

That's probably why. They don't wanna give away the best stuff for free. Just whet possible ticket buyers' appetites.

If you can be in NYC on Tuesday you can be in the TV audience for Arabian Nights (Good Morning America) and Prince Ali (The View);
http://www.aladdinthemusical.com/ontv
Good Morning America will also be doing a first look preview tomorrow as well and on Tuesday evening Casey Nicholaw and the cast are on Nightline.
I also finally got around to updating blog with the purple carpet pictures (

Later this month the New Amsterdam Theatre will also play host to a special Actors Fund Gala celebrating 20 years of Disney on Broadway. Tickets range from $20 to $1500 and can be bought from the Actors Fund website (

Aww, I didn't know they were doing Good Morning America, but Barbara Walters said on The View that they would be on Nightline, thankfully.
I thought the guy playing the Genie was okay, but I'm sympathetic because that must be an incredibly difficult character to bring to life. Only saw a glimpse of Aladdin, but he looks perfectly cast. Loved the costumes. Very nice.

Can watch the Arabian Nights one, but not the Prince Ali one ? ):
The Arabian Nights one was pretty cool, but when introducing the villian as " the ugly villains " like everybody ugly is evil or something ?
yeeeeeahhhh, not sure how to feel about that.

I'm kind of sad... neither performance was all that impressive.

I've seen videos of the show in California Adventures that are better than that.

A great article on the Huffington Post about cultural sensitivity in Aladdin, which addresses some of the unfounded rumors people have been posting about the cast of Aladdin as well as the cast/creative team.

Bland, unengaging, and mediocre performances. Far from the visual and musical spectacle you'd expect from a Disney Broadway show.
I warned you all.

Some links for costume lovers! The costumes in the show are so stunning and impressive. I read in an interview with costume designer Gregg Barnes that there are over 1,400 Swarovski crystals on a single pair of ensemble members pants JUST for the costumes used in the Friend Like Me finale tap number!
