When you say things like "anyone who loves Pixar is obviously not going to take any criticism or disagreement [...]" you are the one creating a hostile evironment. That statement is made simply to cause some sort of argument. I like (most) Pixar movies and criticism is fine if it's substantial. I've been critical a lot of times when it comes to Pixar movies. But, OMGZ the Oscars are biased = not criticism, that's called stupidity.Disney's Divinity wrote:"seem" being the operative word here--depends on what perspective you're looking from. Anyone who loves Pixar is obviously not going to take any criticism or disagreement about anything with the Pixar name on it as anything but unreasonable, biased, anti-Pixar, pro-Disneycorp nonsense. Which is why the atmosphere is always so hostile.
Someone was arguing about that a page back, and I was just expressing my opinion on the matter. And I'm not typecasting anybody (speaking of hostility). My point was, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to see that a lot of people are upset that Pixar wins the Best Animated Oscar a lot of the times. Then there's the "John Lasseter destroyed Disney from within"-argument I know I've heard somewhere here. It's just a generalisation I guess, just like your statement below.Disney's Divinity wrote:Also, nobody's talking about the Best Animated Feature win here, which TS3 deserved to win, but the song category. But I understand it's easier to typecast people without getting into the specifics.
"people" being the generalisation here. I've actually never said that critics are "useless", so there goes that logic. Obviously a collection of 150+ film critics' opinions are going to be a good indicator whether a movie is going to be in the race to win an Oscar or not. I like the Oscars, otherwise I wouldn't watch, so obviously winning the award is important in some way to me - even though it's just a statue. And I never used money as a measure of how good something is, it was just to show that TS3 was the most popular one, which could help it get more votes (tho that didn't work for Avatar last year).Disney's Divinity wrote:Btw, I find it funny that people refer to critics, awards shows, and money-made only when it suits their argument. Any other time, awards shows are bunk, money is no indicator of quality, and critics are useless.
