Mhm, Mandy actually mentioned that she was surprised when she saw that in he movie because she had the exact same hair cut.

I'm guessing....probably, they had the basic same sentence as Flynn and he was to be, the only reason they wouldn't be that I see would be if Flynn asked to have them pardoned, and with what they've done to him I doubt it's likely

That looked...weird.
I am so glad they decided to change it to what it is now.
Still...I looks kinda interesting..I wish we could see more. I really hope they include something from it on the Tangled DVD, but I guess that's just wishfull thinking.
Also, was that Kristen Chenoweth? I didn't know she actually recorded something.

Would've picked a better Rapunzel profile myself but not bad. Glad to see a version with Mother Gothel peering out.

Well, I saw it!
Since about a month before the movie premiered, I had vouched to myself that I wouldn't post in any of the Tangled threads and I would try not to read them either until I had seen the film.
It was worth the wait.
It was just lovely. It was Disney as I knew it, great characters, splendid music, lush animation... It was such an experience. Even made lovelier today with some nice snowfall. It was just so much fun!
And the box office numbers!!! I am so pleased and elated about that. Tangled deserves it!

Yep. Kristen Chenoweth is the squirrel, and the squirrel is actually Rapunzel.

Oh gosh.. that demo reel was really odd. I agree that the opening seems like it would be pretty if it were finalized, but the rest of it was strange. The man who uploaded said in the description that it was a shame that Unbraided was abandoned, but it seems like it Tangled is a much better film than what they were doing there. I also agree that the prince is dorky as hell. Well, thanks for posting Sotiris!

Q: Years ago, at a preview of what was in the Disney animation pipeline, I saw some very preliminary concept sketches for this film and it was completely different from the finished film both in look and storyline. Can you tell me a little bit about how the movie evolved?
A: I started developing this story in '96 while I was doing "Tarzan" and "Treasure Planet" and then started to work on it in 2002 full-time. At that point, the studio was looking for more of a twist on the fairy tale. That was the way the wind was blowing and I put up my sails and blew in that direction. That version was called "Rapunzel Unbraided" and I worked on it for three years. It was a fun, wonderful, witty version and we had a couple of great writers. But in my heart of hearts I believed there was something much more sincere and genuine to get out of the story, so we set it aside and went back to the roots of the original fairy tale.
Q: One of the highlights of the film is Rapunzel's little chameleon friend, Pascal
A: At first we did not have a sidekick. We thought, we've done sidekicks before, we don't need to do it again. And then you realize why you need one. She's alone in the tower! There's so much going on in this girl's mind and if you don't have her talking to someone you don't know what she's thinking. At one point we had her talking to these little objects with personalities but you could start to think she might be crazy.
The little chameleon gave us an feeling of color. He could blend into different paintings and it just fit the idea of this girl who is an artist. It also fit with the idea that he's just a tiny little character but he always helps Rapunzel take a step further.
Q: You gave the film a contemporary feeling without getting snarky. It has a lot of heart. How do you keep that balance?
A: A lot of that is the sensibility of [co-directors] Byron Howard and Nathan Greno, who have this really, really, deep, deep love of the sincerity of Disney films. At the same time, they have an irreverence and a clever sense of humor. They're always pushing to make it a little bit funnier. We would re-animate scenes a dozen times over, just making it funnier, funnier, funnier. If it was a little laugh, that wasn't enough. At once point Flynn in the pub is surrounded by thugs who tell him to sing and he says, "Sorry boys, I don't sing. Suddenly, he is surrounded by swords and we cut to him singing and dancing. Byron says, "I don't think he should turn his head." It was funnier. He said, "I don't think he should look at the swords at all." And it was even better.

The post-Thanksgiving doldrums were in full effect over the weekend. Tangled climbed past Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 just as the movies' trajectories suggested, though neither held well. Hollywood generally shuns the post-Thanksgiving timeframe in regards to new releases, and it was no exception this weekend: The Warrior's Way was the sole nationwide debut and a weak one at that. Overall business was down 14 percent from the same weekend last year when The Blind Side led, and it was the least-attended post-Thanksgiving weekend since 1997.
Tangled drew an estimated $21.5 million, tumbling 56 percent from last weekend. Walt Disney Pictures last Thanksgiving princess event, Enchanted, was off 52 percent at the same point, grossing less but selling more tickets. In 12 days, though, Tangled has generated $96.5 million, which was well ahead of Enchanted's comparable $80.9 million tally, and it will soon surpass The Princess and the Frog's $104.4 million final total. Again, around 56 percent of Tangled's business was from 3D-illusion presentations.

That concept art of the King is great–man, I love all the Regency designs; as much as I love the movie, I kinda sigh over a missed opportunity for a green Regency gown for Rapunzel.
Um, holy cow, that was
bad. (By the way, can I just say that I find talking animal sidekicks unfunny? I dunno… there's a difference between appropriate for all ages and "for kids!" that talking animal sidekicks usually fall on the wrong side of.) I guess we know where bear!Flynn comes from now!
The opening's pretty, though, and I do like the visual of Rapunzel's hair streaming out of a carriage. It reminds me of this piece of concept art:
Oh, and I find the fact that Claire and Vince are apparently named after Claire Keane and her husband, Vincent Rogozyk, adorable.

The entire time I was watching that part
all I could think about was Oliver and Company
(and god knows how long it's been since i've seen it, though the VHS is on my shelf
