I presume it means Disney have greenlit Snow Queen and have another princess film in development. We don't know an awful lot about the projects Disney is working on beyond Snow Queen so I doubt there are any details to be shared just yet.

This just made me wonder--is the new The Snow Queen still a musical? Considering it appears to be “new” only in that it’s CG now, I’m guessing everything else remains unchanged? I hope so. "Love Can't Be Denied" was really nice, imo, and I'd love to hear it performed by real voice actors (or comparably singers

).
And, if there is another princess movie in the works, will
it be a musical? Hmm.
Maybe Menken will have some work soon.

How else would Dreamworks come up with new ideas without its spies at Disney and Pixar?

I think it will be. I don't know how much music Wreck-It Ralph or King of the Elves will have but I don't see them being full-fledged musicals. I think Tangled has proved that audiences still love the traditional Disney fairytale musical so I don't think Disney would pass up an opportunity to capitalise on that formula again in Snow Queen. And if it is a musical, I definitely think Menken is the most likely candidate to write the songs. He might not be right for Snow Queen but I would also love Michael Giacchino to write a score for an animated Disney film in the future.

Hey, maybe with the work they did on Rapunzel/Tangled to make the CGI look hand-drawn and painted, they can just take that work further to make the CGI look even more hand-drawn and painted! You know, cause they already started, just keep going?

I'm sure animators from the different companies are friends, especially since certain animators have gone back and forth between the two studios. They probably break non-disclosure agreements all the time and share info. with each other...
They're about 5-10 miles away from each other. So yeah, I'm sure this happens a lot. Everybody seems to know everybody in this industry.

Also rumor mill says the Mickey Mouse feature is in development. Last I heard it was still being pitched.
This was definitely written by someone who frequents this thread. Anyone care to 'fess up?

'twasn't me - but this just proves we shouldn't lend much credence to the TAG blog comments.

Hahaha well that is interesting.
@
DisneyJedi Sorry if I wasn't clear! I meant to say that Dominic said Disney is definitely producing Snow Queen and there is another "princess" film in the works. My friend was pretty vague and still in the Dreamworks building when she called. I'll talk with her a bit more once she gets home this weekend and see if she found out anything else.
The idea that Disney is working on another princess film is odd to me. I'm wondering if they are pushing for another "golden era" like the 90's? Seems to be where they are headed if Snow Queen is definitely greenlit along with King of the Elves and ANOTHER princess film. The Princess line is going to be crowded soon...
All in all, I'm sure my friend talked to this guy. I'm just unsure how much he actually knows.

Again, I just thought I'd share.

I wish it had remained hand-drawn as it was originally envisioned.

After Tangled's success, the studio then decided to reconsider the project. The film is now being directed by Chris Buck and it will be done in CGI, but it is unknown at this stage if the film will still be a musical.
It better be! Well, it should be b/c of Alan's songs that he wrote, plus "I See the Light" was a huge success (1 million views, baby)!
And I hope the CGI looks like the one in Tangled because the CGI was the best CGI I ever saw in a animated movie!

I don't know how reliable it is to put stock into someone who remains anonymous.. This movie has been "shelved" and "back in to development" several times. I refuse to believe anyone anymore.
