I'm genuinely surprised we (U.K) got Dumbo before the U.S. I don't sympathise too much either, because we always get so much stuff after you guys - makes a nice change!

Stupid because Fantasia wasn't ever going to sell much.

I don't see why they have to crowd up both or three Diamonds into Oct-Dec.
May is wide open.

Maybe they have nothing scheduled for spring because it's when Rapunzel will be released. Or because of Alice/Pooh.

Of course I highly doubt that. Knowing Disney, Dumbo is released without any fanfare next year in May, Fantasias are delayed indefinitely and neither Alice or Pooh gets a release. Bambi is not heard of either.
I'm with you on all that and I too find it strange that May hasn't gotten any serious announces, altough maybe that's to do with the fact that elsewhere in Europe there are releases to be found...

PatF in May-Holland for instance...

singerguy04 wrote:The delay of the Fantasia's was to not conflict with TPatF, and something was happening with Fantasia's remaster. If I remember correctly, they felt they were rushing it to get it released and they needed more time to complete it properly. True, that could just have been another excuse (ala The Aristocats 2-disc edition being delayed to "make better and more bonus features"), but it can be thrown into the pile of reasons for the delay.

Because of this delay I've heard it said by multiple sources that BatB is coming in Sep/Oct and both Fantasia's are coming Nov/Dec of 2010.

We might see a Alice in Wonderland Special Edition blu-ray in the winter as a last minute way to cash in on Burton's Alice while it's still popular. We'll also definitely see Toy Story 3 coming in the fall/winter of 2010.

Dumbo will probably be released in the Spring of 2011 as a standard Special Edition as well as Tangled. I think Disney is anticipating Tangled to be a bigger release, or at least to focus on it's release to boost it's sales. I also wouldn't doubt a blu release of The Incredibles or Finding Nemo in the Spring of 2011 or even the winter of 2010. I want to doubt that Disney would pass up another opportunity for a Spring DE release, we're already looking at 2 or 3 major releases in a kinda low season to begin with.

We might end up seeing multiple DE's in the same season for a while... other than that, IMO, Disney would have to push for a early summer DE release for the next couple of years.

Another thing to consider... We will also probably begin to see more standard blu ray releases in 2011. If that's the case, maybe new releases would need less push making the release schedule we were used to for the PE's more possible.
I predict either The Incredibles or Finding Nemo coming out with Toy Story 3. (Like Monsters, Inc. did with Up.)

May has both PatF and Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

I believe Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland will be released in June, not May.

Why dont they let Maltin do intro to this film even if it wouldn't be under "WDT" line.

I've got some slightly annoying info everyone...

Fantasia isn't out until the end of November 2010.

Why?

Oh, because Epic Mickey on the Wii is being released then.

A Nintendo rep was banging on about it at a conference,
listing the "exciting cross promotion" they'll be doing when the game is released, which included the release of the Fantasia DVD, to which I was the only one that gasped/yawned angrily at the same time.

More definite info will be announced at E3, the games expo, in June
( such as the fact that its no longer Nintendo exclusive, and will be on the PS3 as part of it's new MOVE attachment so sucked in Nintendo )

The most annoying/offensive aspect of it all is that November is when the
horribly unnecessary live action Sorcerers Apprentice movie will be out on DVD/Bluray.

Oh, that's convenient.

So good old Disney delaying a re-release of a classic film by 10 years,
then delaying it again cos some crap live action movie that nobody wanted is available then too.

OH, and let's not forget making us wait again still for an unrelated game to be made and released to co-incide with its re-release.

More like Delay its release by another two years because some idiot decided to make a live-action movie nobody asked for. The game doesn't really concern me, but the delay because of a slightly-related-by-name- only-movie, really gets my goat and slaughters it in front of me.

Offensive, Horrible. Idiots.

So yeah, the Fantasia Diamond Edition is not out till the last week of November (Holiday season) and all so it can coincide with the
DVD/Bluray release of Sorcerers Apprentice, and the Epic Mickey game.

PFFFT.

on the bright side.....there could be some coupons available or some sorta deal....buy all your Mickey's at once...and if Epic Mickey is coming to PS3 I am so getting it...I'd rather have on PS3 than the Wii....

but on the other hand....people have waited this long for Fantasia...whats another month off schedule?....unless its the DVD being released in December but the Blu Ray combo gets released 7 weeks before the DVD...ala Snow White and the upcoming Beauty and the Beast release

November is better than what I thought. December was the month I had heard everywhere.

Disappointed but at least we have a clear idea now. It was always going to be after B&The Beast as the cover art has already been released for that

It's not really as disappointing as the delay news. This is actually what we were all expecting. Except the Epic Mickey part, which still looks epic.

Plus, I love the way you call the live action sorcerer's apprentice a "crap movie" months before it's released. :P

It doesn't look great, but I can hardly say it'll be crappy.

I don't understand how Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 is being delayed. I thought it was coming out in Dec. and now it's coming out in Nov. I'm happy it's coming out earlier.

Yeah that sounds pretty good, only a month after BatB, I was afraid it would be delayed for years. Hopefully we'll get art soon!

That is all just speculation based on the trend of the films coming out every 8/9 years.

Even Alice Wonderland is already available for pre-order, so that cancels out your 2011 advice.
