Hey akhenaten! I remember you mentioning that you were rather unsure as to whether the 'warmer' look (exhibited on the trailer on disney.co.uk) of Sleeping Beauty in the split-screen comparison really worked. I believe Disney Duster also mentioned that the cooler palette was truer to the soul of the film. Well, back then I thought the same, and felt rather worried. However, I think I've just taken a U-turn. The same trailer played on a Disney DVD I just bought (UK Rataouille, I think ... don't know  ), and the 'warmer' palette looked really good on my TV (old timey CRT type  ). Have you seen it in a higher definition (i.e. somewhere other than on the internet) and if so, did it strike you as an improvement?

i saw it on tv from the aristocats dvd....i dunno what to think of it..for now..we will need to see the whole movie first..but ive always preferred the cool blue edition even if the red bleeds a little and the picture not so sharp as compared to snow white, jungle book, lady n the tramp PEs

that picture is not quite as bad, but I'd like to see Disney actually use Maleficent in fairy form, rather than the dragon - I'd also like something reminiscent of the VHS black diamond cover in terms of theme but more modern of course.

I guess they should bring back a widescreen live action short of "The Grand Canyon" for the "Sleeping Beauty" Platinum Edition DVD with the film. In the 2003 Special Edition, they had "The Grand Canyon" film on it, but I would like to see this short film for the first time if this and "Sleeping Beauty" comes out on DVD in October. I'm looking forward to get it!

I have the LP of Peter Grofe's "Grand Canyon Suite" by Eugene Ormandy & the Philadelphia Orchestra (no relation with "Fantasia's" band). This was long before Disney released an Oscar winning short about "Grand Canyon" which was based on Peter Grofe's masterpiece, the music that goes with the film itself. It was released with "Sleeping Beauty" in 1959.

I will upload some tracks from that LP soon. This LP is still a classic.

I found this on YouTube and it's a 4-part video of a 1959 Oscar winning film "Grand Canyon", but let's hope if this comes out on DVD. It was first introduced on a 2003 "Special Edition" DVD, but it's in widescreen. Doinkblink did put up a video in 4-parts and the video quality was not all that great and it was in full screen. Can't wait to see it in a widescreen version. Here it is in a full screen format in 4-parts. Part 1 starts off with a classic Disney Channel ID from 1983.

She has the most personality of the three and is the most appealing to more people.
How many people watching this movie are as pure and "goody goody" as Fauna? Or as self-dignified and kind of snobby as Flora?

I like pink a little more than blue, though blue is prettier. Green is my favorite color of the three. But I won't judge on color.

I was watching Enchanted the other night and decided to check out the trailers. The Sleeping Beauty trailer had all new voices for the characters, and I swear, Jerry Seinfeld is doing the voice of Prince Phillip! Listen very carefully to it! After having watched Jerry and the gang for over 10 years, I'd know his voice anywhere!

The new voices means that in the Blu-Ray version the characters will talk to us,for exmaple-In the Virtuale Castle feature we might hear Aurora guide us in the castle or we"ll hear Maleficent talking to us in the Maleficent's Challenge game.

On paper it may only be "a few", but I'm sure in execution it will be a lot more. The CineExplorer for example (as already used on Cars and Ratatouille Blu-ray discs) encompasses a commentary (or more than one), production artwork and small featurettes all-in-one bullet point. With Bonus View now finalised and implemented, CineExplorer on Sleeping Beauty may also include proper Picture-in-Picture segments too.

As for the Virtual Castle, nobody knows what that means, but being as the original Sleeping Beauty Special Edition had literally hundreds of gallery images in its virtual castle, I'm expecting the same, and more - much more from the Blu-ray version.

Those galleries are my favorite part of the second disc. I'm also hoping the menus will be kinda darker than the storybook menus from the SE. Maybe Maleficent's castle as a nice treat? I'd surely LOOOOVE that!
