Maybe now we can start contemplating whether one or all of the Donald sets will be completed this year...

I would suspect if they are continuing, then Donald would be completed over the next 2 years, rather than all in one go - unless this was intended to be the final wave.

Does anyone have any update on the future of the Disney Treasures or the replacement disc issue?

I posted over in the TLA recall, but just in case, can anyone please help me? I have been off the forums for so long... I see there may be something wrong with the Wave 6 Silly Symphonies and Pluto Tins?
I have both of those tins but have not opened them, I have now broken the shrink-wrap just to check. But I don't have time to watch 12 hours of DVDs (or however long it takes) to find where the problem might be. Can someone please tell me what to look for to see if I got a defective discs?
Are any of the other 2 Treasures tins of Wave 6 bad?
Do you think I can still get them replaced without a receipt? I may have misplaced them or tossed them out.
And lastly, to replace, I call: WDHE (800-723-4763) ?'
Thanks in advance.

There's supposedly nothing wrong with the Pluto set - and the Silly Symphonies set isn't really "defective" either - they just ended up making some unfortunate choices in their programming (more specifically title cards and framing).

I hope the Donald Duck collection will be completed.
Plus, I would like to see a set that has ride-throughs of extinct attractions or past versions of current attractions in Disney parks.

Lars thanks for getting back to me. What a relief I will not have to spend alot of time right now watching all those discs. Mickey Mouse is saying there is a recall for Silly Symphonies though, so if they are really going to recall the discs, over some title card issues.... I'm glad there isn't anything wrong with Pluto. I'll call the number tomorrow and see if there's any news on the Silly Symphonies recall and if so, I'll post for everyone else. Thanks again, Lars.

I'd be interested in "news" about this. If no one had said anything I guess the Silly Symphonies set would be sufficiently acceptable as it is. But since they are "upgrading" it I wouldn't really want to miss it.

Shouldn't we merge this thread with the "WDT Wave 7 Press Release" thread?

It should be renamed, at least.
Incidentally, I finally got around to ringing Disney. Apparently they're still working on the replacement discs for More Silly Symphonies, but they have no definite timeline for when they will be ready.
On the plus side, I was told that the discs will be sent to me automatically when they are ready, and as I'm on the other side of the world I don't need to send the old discs back. Hurrah!

This has also been posted at the TLA thread:
Walt Disney Legacy Collection: True Life Adventures on DVD:

I just got off the phone with Disney Disc/Replacement Hot-line. Here is the scoop.
They are not calling it a recall, I think its an "exchange" program. But if you use that term, they'll know what you are talking about. You need to call there and set up an account and when the new replacement discs for Silly Symphonies are ready, they will either send out a mailer with mailing label to you, or send the replacement out and ask you to return the original disc. You will not have to turn in your tins. She did not have any idea when the Silly Symphonies replacement discs would be ready.
This is the only Recall of the set. Pluto - there's no recall for that. Also, she said it was only due to some title card issues and would not say it had anything to do with Leonard Maltin's discussion being cut off.
When you call there, press "3" for "you are having technical difficulties with your DVD." It will say you need to have your DVD player make and model # at hand, but just ignore that info. Have your inner vinyl case or Tin with you. You need to provide a stock # that is on the back of it. Two little white squares at the bottom of the case saying "proof of purchase." The number is at the bottom of the squares.
If you have called there for anything in the past, for example slipcovers 2 years ago, they will have you in their system (your name, address, phone no. etc). You won't need your original receipt for purchase to participate in the exchange program.

Pluto is already complete. There's no need for a 3rd volume.
I have both volumes of Pluto on DVD. On 2 of each DVD's has all the Pluto cartoons from 1930 until 1951.

It's 2008 and still DISNEY has not released the ANNETTE Serial on DVD.
I'm 60 and I want to see that serial before I reach the golden gates.

I identifyed with all the kids in that serial and would love to relive those fun times again.
PLEASE Disney do it for us Baby Boomers who are waiting.
THANK YOU

Disney has released info saying that the next wave (8th) of the treasures
will include the chronological Donald (volume 4) and Dr. Syn.
This means that the previously mentioned Destino 2-disc set will
NOT be part of this treasures wave.
In other news it looks like Snow White is going to be a platinum release
edition in 2009 (for the first time in Bluray format)

What is your source because they have previously announced Destino will be included. I am not sure additional information that only mentions the two releases would necessarily preclude Destino either unless it was specifically mentioned that Destino was not coming out.

Everyone...It seems to be true... Destino is no longer part of the 2008 Walt Disney Treasures......
I would imagine there will be a riot outside of WDHE for this act of treachery....
I wonder what might be replacing Destino..... If they would introduce Song of the South instead of Destino I would be more than pleased but still Destino needs to be released....

Disney has recently revised its vague press release for Walt Disney Treasures: Wave 8. The only difference? Destino, the 2003 realization of a long-unfinished Walt Disney/Salvador Dali animated short, has been dropped. The Chronological Donald, Volume 4 and Dr. Syn, Alias The Scarecrow are still scheduled for release on November 11th.
We're awaiting comment from Disney, but for now it appears that Destino, long anticipated on DVD and earlier planned for release in Walt Disney's Legacy Collection, is no longer bound for DVD in 2008.

Well, maybe this means there will be a Wave 9?
