I forgot about the Jodi Benson video. I'm sure it'll be on there. Didn't they have it on one of The Little Mermaid vhs releases after the credits? I seem to remember they did.

Yay!!!!!!!!! I always loved the concept for that attraction.... it's great we are finally getting what it would have looked like..... I think we should get more of these!

I loved the menus, they look so different from anything we've ever seen on Disney dvd's. Oh and MerXAN, I think the intro for the menu will probably be a little more simple, like the one for Aladdin, wich only shows the wind uncovering the sand to reeveal the lamp and the cave of wonders.

And you call yourselves fans of The Little Mermaid?! I have the re-released VHS from 1998 and that video did indeed have the music video for "Part Of That World" with Jodi Benson during the end credits. She was walking along the beach and occasionally picking up human objects from the sand. Since that video has the song's original singer in it, and the little mermaid's original voice actress in it, I think it should definately surface on this 2-disc DVD.

To be honest, I don't think that video will be on the DVD. Notice how, for some reason, there's no "Music and More" section anywhere in the bonus material (a shame, too, as that would've been perfect to include both this video and the many song demos recorded for the film). I think if the video had come out at the time of the original release (and with a different artist), Disney would've included it.

Darn, you're right about that. Oh well, I guess we can't have absolutely everything.

You don't see these on many other Disney DVDs

I wonder if the "The Story Behind the Story" will be a background thingy on Hans Christen Anderson (sp?)? And tell how he made it & how Disney brought his works to the big movie screen........

Disneykid, I think you forgot to mention the Hans Christian Andersen featurette in your list. I don't see it anywhere.

Anyway, I don't think we've had menus this good since Aladdin's DVD. I thought I would have more to say about them, but they're just amazing. Major kudos to Disney.

I may sound spoiled for saying this, but I was hoping for a making-of that's longer than 45 minutes. Considering Aladdin's making-of got a running time of around two hours, and considering Mermaid has many more stories behind it (in my opinion), I'm a little disappointed with the short (by comparison) running time.

A little disappointed, but excited nonetheless. C'mon October!

Well, maybe Koda. Judging from the simplicity of the menu still, most probably it would be simple.

I just love the japanese website. Thanks for the link.

I too feel a little disappointed for that same reason as well. I would have figured that in Act V (A Mermaid Sings) there would be at least 10 mintues on the production of the songs, and finding the great voice of Jodi Benson, not a skimpy 5 minutes and 40 seconds. None-the-less I am still looking forward to this Platinum Edition release of Disney's Most Requested Animated Film

Finally in the "Sneak Peeks" section we will finally know that 101 Dalmatians will come next Febuary, & we'll see the trailer for it!

Actually, since "A Mermaid Sings" is the last featurette in the documentary, I'm willing to bet that it's the one that wraps everything up and everybody praises the film for 6 minutes. The featurette about the production of songs is probably the "Symphony of Talent" featurette. Man, these titles sure aren't very specific; I wish Disney had released these with descriptions.

I'll end my post saying that one of those featurettes better be something about the voice cast. There'd be no excuse for Disney not to include a voice cast featurette for such a recent film.

After the last two Platinums, The Little Mermaid seems almost overflowing with features. Hopefully, what we are getting will also be high quality.

I hope it doesnt dissapoint. The Lion King PE didnt even interview the voice actors, and I remember when it first came out they did a ton of interviews with the voice actors. There was no excuse for them not to interview Jonathan Thomas or Matthew Broderick. :(

I would love to see the castle under the sea with the computer animation that disney uses on its menus and then the image going up every time more closer to the light of the surface and then it gets out to show the image of Ariel on the rock

I can't wait to see the screencaps of TLM completely restored!!! I think that they will come out until september :x it seems so close but yet so far :(

I too agree about the meager run time of the doc.

Aladdin's is still the best making of for a disney film ive ever seen...So much info.

sadly the last time  "Disney's greatest film" was released , "The Lion King" it was a pathetic excuse for a platinum...but i luckily do not care for that film so did not mind...but for Little Mermaid much more respect is deserved.

Hello peoples!
I have skimmed through this thread, and I am sure that is hasn't been posted yet, but there is a petition that has been made to Buena Vista Home Entertainment concerning a gift set for The Little Mermaid. Here is the link: http://www.petitiononline.com/160575/petition.html. If you want them to make it, then I insist that you include your signature. Please do so, The Little Mermaid deserves it. :)
