Just import the Region 1 version from the US, and get the film 2 weeks earlier. It's what I always do ... I con't have the patience to wait for the UK release.

Why is Maid Marian floating in some shrubbery?
I really, really dislike both The Jungle Book and Robin Hood cover art. Not nice at all.

That's the ghost of Maid Marian. She now haunts Robin wherever he goes, cos he accidentally sliced her in half after they wed, when she started complaining that she has nothing to wear (unlike all the other hot vixens in the locality).

Hahaha!

How could I have forgotten about her ghost? Silly me!

I would but i'm a perfectionist and having 1 Platinum Edition next to Special Editions would seem odd

Aaah. You like consistency. Actually, I do aswell (and I like the fact that in the UK, all the Walt Disney Animated Classics have the banner of "Walt Disney Classics" on top, along with the number at the back of the case), but I'd rather sacrifice that in favour of time or a better DVD release. For example, if I had to get Borther Bear, I'd certainly not get the UK Rg. 2 release, as it's only Pan & Scan. I'd get the Rg. 1, even if it looks a tad strange on my shelf. Heck, I have Mickey Mouse in Living
Colour Vol. 1 in Region 2, and Mickey Mouse in Living
Color Vol. 2 in Region 1, simply because that's how I came across them. True, they look strange (especially with the spelling differences [colour/color] )...

Got it today.
The slipcase is only very faint holographic. Nowhere near as visible as Peter Pan and Fox and the Hound. It's embossed and has a nice gold border.
The audio commentary is present on the release. Celebrating Dumbo and the Walt Disney TV Introduction are there too, along with an Art Gallery. 2 bonus shorts (Elmer Elephant and The Flying Mouse) and everything else from the R1 are on the release.
No Sound Design featurette. No FastPlay.

What! This is great news. All previous UK editions have been missing the TV introductions and the commentary. I suppose it's too much to ask that the trailers are on this release?

No trailers for Dumbo, unfortunately.
The DVD has the remastered transfer BTW.

Has there been any news on more Walt Disney Treasures coming to the UK? I think they are Pluto 1 and Donald 2.

A blu-ray release of Meet the Robinsons, appears to be pencilled in for 17th September:

Thought it would have been released in July/August, September seems a bit late but I can't complain, just hopefully have good featurettes and a 2-Disc version.

I'm sorry, but I still think that is a VILE Special Edition cover. I think its one of the worst for the UK versions of Platinum Editions. I really, really do
Where has the creativity of past covers gone? They just look like random clip art pictures now, all pasted together!

Amen to that sista! This is by far the worst Disney cover for a platinum edition ever!

I wonder if this is actually the absolute final version, as pretty much all of the characters just seem slightly off to me in this artwork. We've seen before where artwork has been refined before final release.
I don't mind the layout too much, but the facial expressions are all slightly off.
It is a bit too busy as well though.

Farid, are you 100% sure the Region 2 Special Edition Dumbo has the remastered transfer? I've already ordered it off Play.com, but on DVD Compare (REWIND), it says that the Region 1 release has the superior transfer.
Whom should I believe? I hope DVD Compare is wrong, as I'm already feeling a little miffed for buying the new release of TFatH in Region 2 and getting the old transfer.

I don't have the R1 release of Dumbo to compare, but the new UK Special Edition looks much, much better than the previous one. All of the digital noise and imperfections are gone.

It's great.
