Yes, that would be lovely. We haven’t heard from Glynis Johns in quite a while, so I’m not sure if she’s still able to give interviews. I did read recently that her family is pushing for her to receive a Damehood, which I think would be a lovely honor.
But anyway, I’d love a red carpet gala event next year. It’d be wonderful if they would hold it at the Chinese Theatre where the original premiere was held. Julie, Dick, Karen Dotrice, and Glynis Johns if she is able should all attend.

Maybe she could say a little in the retrospective. I hope she gets a Damehood and they do a 60th red carpet, too!

I couldn't tell a difference from how I remember Snow looking before, but
Vlad could, and I knew he'd tell us! Thank you!
Aww, you thought of me?
A friend of mine on Facebook has a copy of the movie in 35mm, and he showed me some screencaps. I'll share them here with you guys. Judging by the colors, I'd say that these are sourced from a 50th anniversary print of the movie. What do you think?

That would be something I'd greatly enjoy too. I'm hoping they'd do the same thing with Sound of Music, in 2025. The first anniversary since Disney acquired Fox was in 2020, but we know why nothing happened then. I still don't understand why they didn't release an Anniversary Edition back then.

Seems like the one from the 90s, I think 92 or 93.

Thank goodness we had the Oprah reunion in 2010. Since then two of the children have died and of course, Christopher Plummer as well.

Yes, I thought of you, Vlad! The 35mm looks so nice, so filmic.
Why didn't something happen for Sound of Music in 2020? What was the Oprah reunion?

In 2010, the entire cast of The Sound of Music (Julie, Christopher, and the 7 actors who played the Von Trapp children) were reunited on an episode of Oprah to mark the 45th Anniversary of the film.
I’m not an Oprah fan by any means, but I watched that episode because I’m a HUGE fan of the Rodgers and Hammerstein show and film! I believe the episode can be found on YouTube...

More good news!
I'll be waiting for my physical copy to arrive in order to watch the movie.

Aww, thanks, buddy. Yes, it does look filmic, doesn't it?
Oh, I just meant the pandemic in general, which prevented any special event for the movie's anniversary.

Yes, it is on YouTube, but the quality is not that great sadly. There's also a great one with Julie Andrews on the Ellen Show promoting the movie's 40th anniversary DVD release.

So, I don’t know for certain if my iTunes/Apple TV has actually updated my digital copy of Snow White to the 4K master yet, but if anybody has the physical 4K release at least, does it look any good?

Has anyone else heard that they’re currently working on 4K restorations of Fantasia, Sleeping Beauty and The Sword in the Stone?

I don't know how reliable it is and if it's user-submitted, but blu-ray.com has a placeholder for a
Sleeping Beauty 4K.
Also, an Instagram scoop insinuated a SB 4K is indeed coming, but there isn't a release date. Maybe they're saving it for next year and the movie's 65th anniversary.

I would love Sleeping Beauty on 4K, I really need that rumor to be true! I hope they delve beyond Princess films for 4K. We need the whole Platinum lineup at least, plus Fantasia, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, etc.
I ordered my copy of Snow White from Best Buy yesterday (alongside my 4K copy of Barbie!).

I thought they released Peter Pan on 4K a few months ago this year?

They released a 70th Anniversary blue ray edition of Peter Pan in February but it wasn’t 4K , nor was there any indication it was restored from the original elements.

Hey,
For those who have bought the new 4K set... does the blu ray included have the new transfer or the old one?

I came here to ask this as well!
