LOL wait WAT?!?!
Barack Obama is not a legitimate president because he wasn't born in the US, according to the Tea Party people. Since Obama was born in Hawaii, this means Hawaii is not part of the US.
DUH!

Now this topic Is one love watching Bill Mauer, John Stewart, and Colbert....anyway.....
You know I love UD/DVDizzy. It's the only place that can be a topic about Disney's Tangled (Rapunzel) and Barack Obama and the tea part within the same thread....I think we should all do a holiday card or cd with everyone that would want to on UD and sing We Are the World and put it on youtube...who know's maybe we'll be on America's Got Talent. Bring your Milk Duds and Gromit, It's gonna be good
Okay Please excuse my being silly and derailling the thread...so continue...Let's Talk/Get Tangled

Had anyone here noticed that Gothel resembles in some way Yzma from abandoned concept of "The Kingdom of the Sun"? I mean, Yzma was supposed to be a sorceress who wanted to be forever young. And since there was no such motive for villain in the original Brother Grimm's tale, I think that maybe sometimes the story department takes few good ideas from the canceled projects?

Also, as far as I know, the Kingdom of Corona is somehow linked with the Sun?
(Myself, I hate that they called the kingdom Corona. In Russian and many other languages it means "crown" and I hope it will be changed in the dubbed version)

I thought the motive in the original fairytale was to have a child of her own. Similar to this adaptation. My reading of the fairytale was that the witch/villain loved Rapunzel but was jealous of the impregnating prince and wanted her revenge for taking R away from her.

When you think about, Rapunzel didn't know anything about sex so it would be difficult for her to raise a baby. And it would be even more difficult for R to raise a baby than an average teenage girl raising a baby because R has no welfare or family for support. So having a movie revolving around around the pregnancy would be depressing. As for Disney's adaption of the fairy-tale,it's quite appropriate for the theme of the story.
What I don't get about the Grimm's Brother's version is that a
prince just impregnates her just like that!I mean like the prince makes Flynn look like a nanny.

My little cousin came over and saw my Rapunzel dolls. I told her "that's the new Disney Princess" and she said "yeah! From TANGLED!"

It will take Rapunzel a lot of charm, magic and singing to enchant rude ugly tough hunks that fill a tavern... Just a little recall : watch the 30 first seconds of that link below, to picture how could be the atmosphere of the Snuggly Ducking. Can't wait to see my little golden hair lilac dress one in the middle of that

That Rapunzel meet and greet room and tower look amazingly gorgeously beautifully fantastic!
Don't forget Disney's Divinity that Glen Keane was so glad with the strides he had made in CGI, when he was offered to make it hand-drawn by Lasseter later, he decided to keep it CGI (with the hand-drawn likeness of course!).
But what you said about the title - dead on right, similar to what I've been feeling deeply about it, and yet another good reason the title should be Rapunzel. And no one in the public remembers Hoodwinked, or the likes, like Alvin!
