You really think they put that specific line there not to be funny with it's double meaning of the word Pooh? Okay, tell that to the millions of kids who will automatically jump to thinking that in their head.

I can't believe a single one of you doesn't think Disney intended for that word "Pooh" to be read in both ways, otherwise they wouldn't have put that specific wording there with Piglet's expression.

And not only did I predict someone might say something like you did estefan, but I'm pretty sure you know what I meant about Walt creating the characters, as in the way they are done, the version we see them as, the Walt Disney version of them. It's simply based on pre-existing characters. Otherwise according to you I guess Disney creates nothing, huh? You know what I mean, no hard feelings.

I think it depends more on how an individual interprets the poster than anything else. I agree with Estefan, I didn't see the pun, intended or not, at first until Disney Duster pointed it out. It could be innocent, but it doesn't necessarily matter if it isn't, I don't think it's particularly offensive or innapropriate.

With regards to Walt "turning in his grave", I've read other people on here discuss Disney characters in pornographic cartoons so, to me at least, this seems absolutely tame compared to some of the other things I've read about on this forum.

Looking at it again, maybe Pooh isn't trying to hurt Piglet, but he figures that Piglet is small enough to be catapulted into the air to knock down the bee's nest...

Well, I guess it is his (or Reitherman's) versions of the characters Milne created. But, it's not like Mickey Mouse, which is definitely a creation of Walt's, as are Donald, Minnie, Goofy and if we want to look at his animated features, the individual Seven Dwarfs, Jacques and the other individual mice from Cinderella and the three fairies from Sleeping Beauty, to use a couple of examples that come first to mind.

But, without Milne having written about Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and the rest of the animals in the Hundred-Acre-Wood, Disney's Winnie the Pooh wouldn't exist.

That said, I just remembered that Gopher was a character not in the Milne stories that was created specifically for the Disney shorts.

I know, I know (of course I know); I just like to tease DisneyJedi a bit. ;)

Oh, by the way, I like the poster and the comics are funny, but I think Pooh is out-of-character in the comics for being so mean and sadistic. In the poster, he's not really sadistic. I think he's just being his usual dumb self and he hasn't thought of the implications of his actions.

OH MY GOD!!! *THAT'S* what Disney Duster was referring to?! :o

I would have NEVER, EVER made that connection myself! He is CRAZY to think that's what was intended!

Because we're NOT paranoid!

The fact that you have that connection on your mind says way more about YOU than it does about us or the so-called "millions of kids" whom you think will make that connection (but they really won't).

He didn't seem out-of-character in the comics to me. They were funny because it would be like Pooh to unintentionally hurt other people's feelings. :P

Okay well look at Piglet's expression. His face doesn't match the kind of "Oh, Pooh is being his silly self" reading of the line. His face suggests a "Oh, crap/this is bad" kind of face. Please look at the poster to see.

estefan I know it's not that bad but I still see it as dirtying something Walt intended to be clean and it is still effecting the version of the characters he intended to be a certain way, look, etc. He still created the specific personalities and voices that makes the characters the actual characters that endeared us. Remember, his artists made what they made because they were told the kind of things Walt wanted them to do.

DisneyAnimation88, yes, but that is different, the people who make that Disney porn are not the company that Walt Disney ran and hoped would keep his clean, family friendly Disney ways.

Yes, it's a "this is bad" kind of face. And that's why he says: "Oh, Pooh", as in: "Oh, Winnie the Pooh, what are you doing to me?"

The other connection you make is the production of your own dirty mind entirely.

I dunno, I made same double meaning connection too. Then again, i'm probably a sick-fuck anyway and have a nasty sense of humor.

Yes that is true. But what I intended to say was that even if this is an intentional pun, is it really that bad? From the time the film was announced, a lot of people have commented that perhaps Winnie the Pooh is too childish, that it won't attract an older audience. Well, maybe Disney are trying to appeal to adult's humour in a subtle way which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Look at the trailer, would anyone have guessed beforehand that Disney would use a Keane song to market a Winnie the Pooh film? I'm sure the film will be as innocent as Disney's other Winnie the Pooh content, but maybe the company are using subtle tactics to tell an older audience that this film shouldn't simply be taken at face value as a children's film but one that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

I'm finding it funny that people are pretending that Disney would never have put "oh Pooh" as in "Oh Crap", when they quite obviously have :p

I think this is almost certainly a British poster and without a doubt was intended to have a hint of rudeness.

Wow, a Disney poster that doesn't mention the word "Disney" anywhere. That's a first. I like the simplicity of it, but the other one's better if you ask me.

Hey, don't worry. Piglet gets his revenge.

Wait...

Those comics are REAL?!

I don't think Pooh or Piglet would ever be that mean! It's not true that everyone laughs at Eeyore! I'm pretty sure these either must be fan-altered, or these certainly weren't made during Walt's time, or whoever made them did not capture the true way those characters would be!

As for the poster, Ichabod, what makes you think it's a British poster, isn't it American?

DisneyAnimation, that humor isn't adult. I find it to be childish. However, if you are an adult and find it funny, that's really fine, but they still took the lowbrow route.

^adult humor does not mean "mature" "classy" humor at all.

Yes, these are official syndicated comic strips.
In Which Winnie the Pooh Comes To the Funny Pages
Joining fellow Disney superstars Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, Pooh Bear became the star of his very own comic in 1978. Debuting on June 19 of that year and running through April 2, 1988, this daily and Sunday newspaper comic strip was written by Don Ferguson and drawn by Richard Moore. Two new cast members, Sir Brian and the Dragon (inspired by characters from the poetry of A. A. Milne), were added to the comic strip's version of the Hundred Acre Wood's citizenry. Today, reprints of the Winnie the Pooh daily can be enjoyed whenever you feel like a small comic-strip smackeral at Creators.com.
