They're similar only in the hair department. Fares is very pretty while Merida's face looks like a distorted round balloon. :P

You know there's something wrong with your character's design when fanart (referring to enigmawing's drawing) looks way better than the official design.

I guess the reports that the trailer was not going to be released online officially were merely false rumours.

That or they noticed the original bootleg had 44,000 views before it was taken down.

Hey...um...about the "very high classic Disney feel"...can you take that back?

You see...that comment really...hurts me. Really. You see, Pixar and Disney are not the same thing, and cannot tap into the feels of one another. I know some people think they now are the same thing just because Disney bought Pixar, but as long as they have seperate names they will always be individual things. And even if they did change their seperate names into one name to be one, single, same thing, I would always still know they truly aren't the same thing and that the real Disney was then dead, as it changed into something else.

Anyway, I don't know why you would want any studio anytime ever to be able to create the Disney feel other than Disney. I don't know why you would ever want some company to be Disney instead of the actual Disney studio.

But now, if I must beg, I will...can you take that comment back? I watched the trailer and it felt dramatic, but not Disney magical. The opening narration really didn't sound like anything from Disney, or really Pixar either, but some character voiceovers from Pixar trailers do remind me of it, and the animation and look are too...loose for me to think of Disney (I can't really describe it). I admit there's the possibility it could be a "high classic", whatever that means, but a Disney one, no, it's a Pixar one. So please, I'm asking you, please take back your comment, think of some other way to describe it.

I knew there was no way that rumor was true.

Edit: wow, duster you put Disney on too high of a pedestal. Its not impossible for a trailer to feel like a Disney one to somebody in the least. and this "take it back" stuff makes you sound like some kid at recess who just got offended by a yo moma joke.

Then do us a favor and stop trying. I feel another Disney essence debate coming up.

For crying out loud, we're talking about opinions on film and entertainment, I see no reason to take things so personally. I don't know why anyone would feel the need to be so extremely possessive over the company's supposed traits or actually feel hurt that people have the very valid opinion that "classic Disney" does indeed exist beyond the scope of the original studio.

I didn't do anything mean...please stop being so mean to me...I asked someone if they would do something as nicely as I could, I'm not forcing them, it is up to them and I am awaiting their reply, stop being so mean please...

The trailer looks amazing! Did anyone else here get a Legend of Zelda vibe, or just me?

Anyway, I doubt Merida would be part of the Disney Princess lineup, unless she has a significant other and/or sings. That seems to be the "requirement" with all the "Disney Princesses".

No one is mean. They're just annoyed by your arrogance. You cannot expect people to share your views and even ask them to take back a statement when it's THEIR point of view. THAT is arrogance.

There are actually a great deal of films not made by Disney that have some traits people would look at as 'classic Disney'. You can ignore that and that's fine by me. Just don't act like your opinion is the universal truth.

all the dreamworks 2d animated films get mistaken for disney, as does anastasia and balto.

that HD trailer gave me chills. its not a normal pixar trailer, where its jokes and music. it comes across as mature and serious. i cannot wait to see it on the big screen. i feel this might have as big a visual impact as the lion king 2d.

i hope merida doesnt get dragged into the princess line with its vomit inducing glotter gowns.

What are you blithering about? Can't somebody describe something unless the description meets your stupid demands?

Stop being such a drama queen.

Anyway, I'm really excited about Brave now; the animation looks excellent. The fact that it stars the likes of Emma Thompson and Julie Walters is even better. :)

I actually hope she will be included in the line. I can just imagine myself at six tricking myself out as Merida with bow and arrow and then putting on a fake Scottish accent. :D

Also did anyone else notice the blue bubble things have eyes?
Image

Whatever they are remind me of the Water Elements in Luigi's Mansion

Anyone else see the resemblance?

@DDuster: Personally, I was thinking of it from the opposite context. Growing up with Bluth, we’ve seen people imitate Disney pretty well. However, I’m not sure why any studio that isn't Disney would want people to see their films and think, “This is just like Disney!” :?

Edit: I just had another thought: I could totally imagine this movie eventually ending up in Kingdom Hearts.

I'm personally getting sick of the cutesy-buddy-comedy approach that so many of Pixar's films take. I'm looking forward to this film because it's gonna be a new avenue for Pixar as far as styles of storytelling and (about time for it too) it's a female main character!!!
