It's not that bad, but does look a bit like an upmarket beauty-parlour logo. Just like true love's kiss, we can turn any beast into a beauty!

That said, the final lettering as seen in the finished film, trailers, toys etc could be a bit different to this.

The logo is a bit too much, like some have said, and I don't like how the word "Beast" is also beautiful. In every version of the title I remember, they always make the word "Beast" kind of ugly, like ragged or edged. I also highly doubt this will be the final logo.

The logo will probably be changed. I don't see it looking good on a poster.

Menken said he created three new songs from the production with writing partner Tim Rice. Explaining that the movie would include songs from the classic animated film, but not the theatrical production, Menken noted that the song he would have liked to have included was "If I Can’t Love Her". It wouldn’t work in the new production because "the Beast’s moment in the film is a much later moment — it would not be if I can’t love her, it’d be I love her but — damn it — I’m letting her go — so that lyric wouldn’t really work with that music." Instead, Menken and Rice wrote "Forever More" in which Beast sings about finally knowing what love is. One of the other new songs is "Days in the Sun", which Menken described as a lullaby in which all the enchanted objects in the castle sing about remembering life before the curse.

Oh my gosh, I am so surprised that the show songs aren't going to be included ! I wonder why they made that decision ?

I really will miss the inclusion of 'Home' … though I'm not sure that Emma could do it as much justice as Susan does, but could have whipped something out of the hat I suppose ?

So, this is NOT based on the theatrical show? Then, what's the point of making the movie?!

EDIT: I wonder if they removed the Broadway songs because Emma and Dan couldn't sing them. I'll be so furious if that's the reason why

Since I was never too fond of the Broadway additions, I guess I'm not tore up about it. Still, I'd think they'd write Belle a song before giving the servants another one ("Days in the Sun"--which would seem slightly unnecessary with "Human Again"?). Oh, well. I still have high expectations for this regardless.

Well, you could argue that Human Again was from the Broadway show, since they only added it in again for the 'All New Musical Sequence' tagline for the DVD release … (and then altered half the film to force it to fit). So it may not be there.

With "Forever More" replacing "If I Can't Love Her," while "Days in the Sun" seems to be either an additional Enchanted Objects song (or one that replaces "Human Again"), I'm really hoping that the third song is a Belle song, especially as they're no longer including "Home" and "A Change In Me."

I'll miss some of the Broadway songs, but I don't mind that yet another rendition of the tale is given a fresh new perspective via new songs. After all, so many versions of Beauty and the Beast exist now at Disney that each one should stand out on their own with something different:

The unmade Walt Disney treatment (of which nothing famously exists beyond brief story notes)
The unmade Richard Purdum treatment (the gothic non-musical version)
The 1991 Work in Progress edition (70% animation, 30% pencil animation and storyboards)
The 1991 Original Theatrical release (the version we all know and love)
The 1991 "Live on Stage" theme park show, first edition (25-minute stage version at Disney-MGM Studios)
The 1994 Theatre Under the Stars Musical (the first, longer stage version tested in Houston before going to Broadway)
The 1994-2007 Broadway Musical (the stage musical with new Menken/Rice songs, plus "A Change in Me" added in 1998)
The 1995-Present Touring Production (the stage musical, minus "No Matter What" and "Maison des Lunes")
The 2001 IMAX Special Edition (animated film with "Human Again" re-instated)
The 2001 "Live on Stage" theme park show, second edition (25-minute stage version at Disney-MGM Studios, more closely follows the film narrative)
The 2011 3-D release (animated film in 3-D, without "Human Again")

Having a live-action version that's partially based on the animated film, but with new characters and new songs, continues the trend.

What was the Theatre Under the Stars version like? What made it longer? What got cut in the transition from Houston to Broadway?

From what I remember reading, much of the deletions were dialogue related and/or pacing of scenes, I don't think there were any songs that were cut before going to Broadway. They used the Houston previews to fine-tune the musical before taking it to Broadway; allegedly the first performance lasted three and a half hours! I'll have to look for the article, it's quite a good read.

You know what I think of that?

F THAT, F DISNEY, F THIS PRODUCTION, GO TO THE HELL, I HOPE IT FLOPS.

I may enjoy the movie when the time comes but I will NEVER forgive Disney for canceling the recorded version of the musical to make this movie... WITHOUT THE SONGS FROM THE MUSICAL.

I was really hoping this would be an adaptation of the stage musical! I love the new songs from that version and I would have loved it if they had included 'Home' and 'A Change in Me'.

'If I can't Love her' is also one of my favourites, but after reading Menken's explanation I kinda understand why they didn't put it in. And since Beast now has a new song I don't really mind. I just really hope 'Forever More' is a good song!

Also, I guess 'Human Again' is out as well, since 'Days in the Sun' seems to revolve around the same subject (the objects wanting to be human again).

I also think the third song is probably a new song for Belle, to replace 'Home' and 'A Change in Me'. Though I could also see them giving a new song to one of the objects or Gaston.

I am trying to stay positive about this movie (unlike some other reactions I've seen), but I have to be honest and say I'm a little less excited now that I know it isn't an adaptation of the stage musical. Still pretty excited though!
