Beautiful new menu stills. "Treasures Untold" is a brilliant idea for that title. Can't wait for this!!!

That documentary is 19 minutes long and the documentary that is on the DVD is 45 minutes so I'm sure everything will carried over to the new one that's really important.
i agree that the 45-minute treasures untold segment would have everything there is to know about the film.i bet it would have lots of alan-howard stuff which i think would be cool.assuringly, glen keane and the other animators would talk about animating the characters.oh,id love to see lots of jodi benson too.

Oh my gosh...seeing that teaser poster as the MAIN menu for the DVD has made my day!!!

Seriously! That would be awesome if when we picked, say "Play", she would jump into the water....or something like that. Or, maybe she could move her head to follow where our "mouse" is (so to speak). And i think that they should have sound clips of "Part of That World" playing in the background.
Sequel- I kind of doubt that the "Under the Sea- Making of.." will be included....but i could be wrong.

The teaser poster is bangin' and I'm glad they used it for the main menu. Also, I've always liked the faraway view of Eric's castle and it looks smashing here as well. October is so close yet so far away

I love the main menu, I can't wait to see the stars sparkling and the water with some movements making distorsions on the reflections of the moon.
The truth is that at the beginning I didn't like it too much because I was hoping to see the castle under the sea as the main menu so I thought that this menu was too simple but I'm starting to like it more and more because this image is like the classic image that we have of mermaids I mean if you are thinking on a mermaid, in your head the mermaid is probably on a rock so this image is the classic image and I'm very happy to see that they used it as the main menu.

i wonder what would be the opening sequence for the main menu.in the lion king pe we have zazu flying towards pride rock;in BeautyandtheBeast there's this storybook.what woukld be in here?i suppose it would be the castle under the sea then it would go up to ariel on the rock.
oh please don't be too annoyed. i suppose maybe some of you hates me because i post very frequently.im sooo sorry cause i just cant help it.i really love to share my thoughts and opinions.

I love the clean, simplicity of the main menu. It's gorgous and classic. I only wish we had the Japanese cover, its look is very magestic and it gives me goosebumps when I see it. Just thinking about the dvd release gets me choked up.

Thanks for the kind words! Madonna's my favorite, no doubt.
Back on subject, I'm hoping the introduction into the menu will be awesome. Something on par with the introduction of
Beauty and The Beast and
The Lion King Platinum Editions. I'll tell you one thing, October can't come soon enough. Although I have
The Little Mermaid (Limited Issue), I am anticipating a much improved transfer of the film, along with all of the bonus features. The Limited Issue had NONE, and a terrible transfer, to boot!

Yeah. I also have the limited issue dvd(it's pathetic!). There's nothing but the movie itself. The transfer is really terrible, I agree. A much improved transfer is the one I've been anticipating for too.
I'd love too see the new screencaps. I wonder when will Disney release those screencaps.

Disney releases screencaps to promote the film? The only time I saw them was through sites reviewing the DVDs.

Maybe. Who knows. I hope so. I mean to say, screencaps of the new restored
The Little Mermaid.

I have to say that the menu screens for The Little Mermaid are classy, beautiful and simple. I'm absolutely thrilled that the teaser poster is used for disc 1's main menu.
And I'm happy with the inclusion of an audio commentary, deleted scenes, and a making-of featurette.
Speaking of, the UK release of this title has some other extras listed as well (which should be on the R1 release as well):
- Storm Warning: The Little Mermaid Special Effects Unit
- Original Theatrical Trailer
- Backstage With Sebastian (deleted scene)
- Sebastian Lost In The Castle (deleted scene)
- Advice From Sebastian (deleted scene)
- Fight With Ursula (deleted scene)
Games and Activities:
- The Little Mermaid Under The Sea Adventure: The Virtual Ride
- Behind The Ride That Almost Was With Disney Imagineers
- DisneyPedia: Life Under The Sea

Is the DVD identical in all the regions or does it differ in one way or another? I am of-course asking about the bonus material...

Generally speaking, non R1 DVDs usually miss out. Not on anything major, and sometimes we get other benefits.
We don't tend to get original mono soundtracks, but that's not a problem for The Little Mermaid. Sometimes we get DTS tracks instead. The UK tends to get Audio Descriptive tracks as well on many Disney titles. We don't get 4:3 versions either. Neither Sleeping Beauty or Lady and the Tramp came with a P&S version.
As for supplements, sometimes we miss out on music videos. Not original music videos, but the remakes. Normally, becuase the artists involved don't have a following outside the US (but we did miss out on the Atomic Kitten Mulan II music video, go figure). Mulan has two versions of the Jackie Chan Music video (Mandarin and Cantonese). We also got an extra music video on Lilo and Stitch, sung by Garath Gates (and the song was included on the closing credits of the UK print).
For example, we didn't get the music video on Lady and the Tramp, and on the Lion King had the Circle of Stars video, but we didn't have the (ultimately pointless) making of.
I don't expect the supplements to be much different on The Little Mermaid. We may get a Pete Andre (shudder) version of Kiss the Girl, as his version was included on the closing credits of the UK print of the film.

The Little Mermaid: PE made the Top Sellers on Amazon today.
I think TLM was number 94 or something like that.
But the price is still $29.99.

Personally, I don't think that Disney should use the exact poster image of Ariel on the rock for the main menu(or any menu). A CGI version
based on that image would be fine, but I think that only images directly from the film or newly created images should be used in the DVD menus.
And in case anyone is interested, Disney's offcial Japanese Web site has a page for
The Little Mermaid that actually has more things on it than the U.S. site does right now. Click on the shell in the lower left corner to release bubbles that lead to more mermaid fun.
Personally, I think the front page sucks of the Japanese site sucks and I bet the U.S. will have a better version with
new artwork instead of the same old artwork of Ariel we've been seeing for so long.

I just hope Disney adds the music video with Jodi Benson singing Part Of Your World and Peter Andre's version of Kiss The Girl, but I doubt it!
