Thanks for sharing this information! Some things left me with more questions than answers though.
blackcauldron85 wrote:22 introduced Joe to "the Mystics," whose "minds were in the Astral Plane, their bodies were still on Earth."
This finally explains Moonwind and how he can be present in both realms.
blackcauldron85 wrote:Terry found Joe and 22 and "a portal scooped up Joe and 22" and they went back to the You Seminar. 22 gave Joe the Earth Pass that she was given. Joe played with the Quartet, but "Joe felt strangely unfulfilled."
This part confused me. What happened to Joe's body when
Terry took him back to the Soul realm? Real people with a physical form can't exist there, right? What exactly is an Earth Pass and how does it work? Do you get reborn when you use it, do you get revived, do you possess another person?
blackcauldron85 wrote:They both leapt in the portal, and Joe returned to the Great Beyond. Joe was an inspiration to the counselors, and they gave him an Earth Portal. "Joe took one more fateful step, unsure of what lay ahead, but prepared to appreciate each and every moment of his wonderful life."
This part is also hard to make sense of.
Since Joe returned to the Great Beyond, does that mean he died again? How can he return there otherwise? Does he being given an Earth Portal means he was revived in his old body or reincarnated?
D82 wrote:Also, I don't know if they've seen the entire film or just the first 30 minutes, but the people from Pixar Post say that what we've heard from Jon Batiste's song "Born to Play" is the full song, or at least the part that Joe plays in the movie. They also say it doesn't have any words. We'll see. I think it's possible there'll be an extended version on the soundtrack that may contain some lyrics.
Could it be that in the movie it's only a short instrumental piece of it and the full thing is reserved for the end credits? It just seems so weird for Disney and Batiste to be referring to it as a song if it doesn't have any lyrics.

I'm going to bed now, but if I have a way to send you pictures of those pages of the book tomorrow, it might make more sense...?

Hopefully the above pics will help make more sense; it’s a short kids’ book with about 30 pages & a lot of pictures, so it doesn’t go in-depth about much. There isn’t a picture of
the Earth Pass in the book; I thought of it like a
school hall pass when reading it.

I don’t know the answers to your questions.

Thanks! The pics did help a bit. When Terry took Joe and 22 back to the Soul realm, they were both in their Soul form which means Joe's body must have been left unconscious like it was before 22 inhabited it. Although it's not explained why Joe's soul was going to the Great Beyond in the first place when he wasn't even dead yet. In any case, I understand that the Earth Pass enabled Joe to return to his body in order to play at the Half Note and then astral project to the Soul realm like the Mystics do in order to talk to 22, but it's still unclear what happens when Joe gives 22 the Earth Pass back. Does he fall back into a coma again? And when the Counselors presented him with an Earth portal, does that mean he returned to his original body on Earth permanently? If that's the case, is it really ethical and fair of them to make that decision and offer Joe a second chance at life over someone else? It's hard to believe there was no one else more worthy of that opportunity. Also, I still don't get how the Earth Pass works. When new souls earn it, does it mean they've been given the go-ahead to be born? Is the Earth Pass simply a permit for a brief visit to Earth? That doesn't make any sense though. How can souls experience life on Earth without a body? I'm not sure if all this convolution stems from poor world-building or lack of information, but I'm leaning towards the former.

That makes sense. It's probably going to be as you say.
Regarding spoilers, there are a couple of
Soul read aloud videos on Youtube. I haven't watched them or
blackcauldron85's imgur link, as I'm trying to avoid spoilers, so I don't know if it's the same book she posted or not. Here they are:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9g94D3vo5I
We aren't sure yet. Skyler Shuler from The DisInsider, who sometimes has access to exclusive info,
said he is in the film, so I think there's still a possibility.

• And it seems the end-credits song could be a new version of 1963's hit
"That's Life". At least, Disney Latin America has
announced Colombian singer Greeicy Rendon has recorded a new version of that song inspired by
Soul for Latin America. More details

I've found this info about her character:
June Squibb (“Nebraska”) lends her voice to Gerel, a 106-year-old heading to The Great Beyond.

You're welcome,

And you're right, I've looked her up and, apart from
Soul, she has had roles in
Ralph Breaks the Internet,
Toy Story 4 and

A new version of a pre-existing Japanese song will be used for the end credits in Japan. Here are some
details about it, a

full song.
