I'm ambivalent when it comes to time jumps. On the one hand it gives you a lot of creative freedom and narrative leeway but on the other it may cause a lot of gaps and give way to lazy storytelling. I suppose it depends on how it will be executed.

I know, right? But that's Disney for ya. Being sparse about new information about their upcoming features. But perhaps Disney shouldn't be entirely the ones to blame, due to us living in a scrutinizing era of nitpicking criticsm.

I didn't hate her (Anna) even though her bubbly, adorkable shtick was a bit much at times. The same goes for Rapunzel too.

To be honest, I think they overdid it way too much with Anna, whereas Rapunzel was more toned down. I think Rapunzel had a clearer arc and maturity process than Anna. Though her adorkability shouldn't really be seen equally as a character arc, Anna was still over-the-top adorkable at the very end, which to be honest, made her a little too much. Rapunzel had her adorkable moments, but was overall more subdued and vulnerable than Anna. Anna had her moments of vulnerability, but still not as much as Rapunzel.

For example, I enjoyed seeing Ariel as a mom despite the sequel's flaws. But I realize this is an unpopular opinion and most people prefer their animated characters to remain unchanged.

Me too. Regardless of how unpopular it may be, I think the sequel deserves genuine credit for actually tackling a warm and affectionate mother/daughter relationship. Which this movie rarely gets credit for, anyway. While it was basically similar to Ariel and Triton's relationship, it didn't felt like a Freaky Friday-model where the mother archetype is usually stern and tedious and the daughter is being too rebellious and assertive (*cough, Brave, cough*). Besides, I think it the mother part actually suited Ariel and made her dignified and poised.

I thought Anna's traveling clothes and Frozen Fever clothes and Frozen Adventure clothes were prettier than that striped green princess dress. The dress isn't awful, just not pretty to me.

Didn't Arendelle send Hans back to the Southern Isles at the end of the movie to await trial there? In "Frozen Fever", they showed him back home, shoveling horse manure. So it seems his own family already punished him.

I doubt it even though he's my favourite half-baked villain. Why? I don't think a script centred on the hidden folk needs a Hans. He's as political as a prince could get, so the well-being of random mythological creatures has no use to him. All I could imagine is him trying to do something that would work in a monarchy backfiring, and the hidden folks have him in a booby trap or a spit roast.

My theories split into two 1) Sterling K Brown's character is like that of the post-renaissance Disney villains who starts as authority-figure who eventually has a power trip other the resource provided by the hidden folk 2) He IS one of the hidden folk, and he has a complicated perspective on dealing with the outside world (a la Killmonger.)

While option 2 seems like a pseudo-repeat of Black Panther, it would still be more cinematically interesting than option 1. Having another magical character like Elsa but with a temperamental attitude towards the rest of society will illustrate the thematic weight of Elsa's strength and support from Anna.

Then there are other clues like Penelope Cruz's brief involvement which indicate that the Frozen troupe will be travelling to various locations other than where the hidden folk land. It seems very unlikely that Penelope would be involved unless that character is specifically Spanish. (Maybe in former drafts of the script?)

as for Hans, yeah, for all my hope and speculation about him, Im well aware that the most likely scenario is that either he just wont be in the film... or he will have another brief "butt monkey" cameo ala Frozen Fever.

Agreed. I didn't like that dress myself, either.

The villain will be played by a black guy...People will not like that at all.

She was never involved. She simply lobbied to get cast in the sequel but failed.

Disney nowadays would not do it, but back in the 90's they might have.

Yeah, when I said "involved," I mean had the same scenario Dinah Hansen had with Moana. Usually, the casting calls the past Disney movies have been very specific about accents.

Campaigning celebrities were also very obvious choices. Penelope Cruz was a pirate last time she was in a Disney film. After that, she has laid low with her roles. She's famous, but she doesn't have enough traction for people to think, "Ah, good casting choice," while Brown and Wood are fresh in the scene with their hit TV shows. Casting needs that "Ah" factor.

Exactly, it works for Marvel because an older audience enjoys deconstructing the morals of said narrative. If Elsa is going to have a troubled twin to coach, it has to be a younger character, so the dynamic is mentor/pupil.

The shirt or whatever beneath Elsa's outer robe looks like something she created with her powers. Sort of like a mix of the silver of Cinderella's dress with Ariel's sparkly purple dress.

Could this mean Leslie Odom Jr. and Rory O'Malley are in Frozen 2? (Or is it the Apple show that both Gad and Odom are in?)

In one pic, which Gad posted on Instagram on Wednesday, the four stand around and make kissing gestures at a plush Sven the reindeer doll.

"Soon enough..." the actor wrote.

Gad also tagged Santino Fontana, who is not pictured and who portrayed Hans in Frozen. It is unclear if he will reprise his role.

I hope that means that Hans is returning, unless Josh Gad just tagged him for camaraderie's sake.
