Mermaid fall Blu 3D; no Disneynature
“The Little Mermaid” will be released in 3D this fall after all, but on Blu-ray instead of theatrically on Sept. 16 as previously announced. The Blu-ray 3D will likely be on Oct. 1.

I mean, really. Nice job, Disney! You pissed your fans off even more!

This is one massive cock-up after another. I am so upset and disappointed in Disney not giving this beautiful and extremely successful film the love and recognition it deserves.
Namely, the theatrical release being cancelled, and that vile possible cover art.
Totally cross and gutted this morning, and am really really loosing faith in Disney as a company.

I don't get why you're all so upset. Given that the re-release won't happen, I feel lucky we'll get the Blu-ray. You can't really blame them when 3D re-releases' profits are lowering with each new movie. They are a greedy company and they will act like one. We can't predict how the market would react to another re-release. Finding Nemo is pretty big as well but it didn't even make half of what TLK did.
Btw, I wonder how many of the people complaining have watched all 3D re-releases.

God, could you please calm down? Did you even read the article? Aren't those from the booklets?

I've stopped caring about the the cover art to be honest. So what if they want to recycle aspects from the Platinum Edition art? Was that one really so bad? Anyway, those two images in the articles look to be teaser posters, not blu-ray covers.

Newsflash for those of you stuck in Fantasyland.
Disney is a business, and not a charity.

I actually like the 2 covers shown in that article. The 2nd one even shows Ursula so that is always awesome that they actually include a villain on the cover. Either way I'm totally excited about seeing TLM in HD and possibly 3D!

I think the 2 old covers posted are stunning, and I don't care if they're recycled. Seeing how the covers to some other high-profile classics have turned out - Bambi, TLK - I'd rather have the old ones recycled than another eyesore for a cover.

A Disney spokesman confirmed to me Sunday that the movie will be released on Blu-ray 3D this fall.
Great news! I wonder how long it would be until we get specs and cover art.

I think it is because when you are passionate about something and it doesn't get the treatment it deserves, it is upsetting. And in reality, with the state Disney is in at the moment, I am surprised it has annoyed me so much as I was half expecting it.

Other countries may get a theatrical release, its never been confirmed you guys won't get it. Besides the point, if the El Capitan release does well we may have a theatrical release still.

Those posters are fanmade. I saw them on google, when I searched The Little Mermaid 3D. Although I really wouldn't mind if they used the Platinum Edition cover artwork.

Didn't we already know that the theatrical release was already abandoned???
Also the cover are for the Platinum wasn't too bad in my opinion. It wasn't the best cover art I've seen for a Disney release, but it wasn't the worst either

Exactly! Right there!
That's why I made those petitions, to convince the guys at Disney that they're making a major mistake.

Which was why I asked anyone I shared it with to share it with everyone they know. But does anyone care to listen?
To that, apparently, I say Ha!
And no. They don't.

People care, but they don't want to give out their name and e-mail address and possibly more information for something they highly doubt will change anything.
I thought that but I still signed one though.
