I don't think it would be Cinderella's mother. It would be kind of creepy having a dead woman narrating a story that happens after she had passed on. Maybe it'll be an older Cinderella, or the fairy godmother, or Ella's descendant, or just a random female narrator? Maybe it was a narrator just for a trailer? I guess we will find out in a few months. I did like how in the 1997 Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, the fairy godmother narrated the story. It would make more sense for her to be a narrator because a fairy would give an unbiased account. I'm starting to doubt the article that states the film will be from the prince's perspective. Maybe they just meant that we will see A LOT of him and his backstory in the movie?
I've heard the costumes are Oscar worthy, especially Lady Tremaine's costumes, Cinderella's ballgown, and Cinderella's wedding dress. I'm already in love with the blue outfit Ella wears when she is riding the horse, which is allegedly her servant dress.

By the way, who narrated the 1950 film? It was a woman too...
And, yes, Sandy Powell never disappoints me!

It was Betty Lou Gerson, who also portrayed Cruella De Ville !

Me too! And I think you're right about the rest of what you said in your post.

I just saw some clips of it in the brazilian DisneyExpo and it looks amazing. The Fairy Godmother is STUNNING and Helena Bonham Carter seems just perfect to the role, for the two phrases I heard her say.
Promotional shots of Kit and Cinderella have been released? There were those things of a character standing and I took photos of them. I could upload them here, if you want.

I'm afraid not. Only a brief scene with the Fairy Godmother, some Cinderella action (with no speaking at all, only flashes) and that's all

It's VERY blue in the movie.

I this her ball gown? I mean, it's a really pretty dress (and I don't mind if it's not blue), but I was expecting something.. really unique and special for her ball gown. This one seems kind of like a standard pretty fairytale dress.
However, the picture doesn't show a lot of detail, so I feel like I shouldn't judge the costume just yet. It still looks really pretty and it might look way better on screen.

Honestly, I don't really know what I was expecting. After hearing all those comments about how amazing the costumes are and how gorgeous the ball gown is, I guess my expectations were a little too high..
However, I don't dislike this dress. I think it's really pretty and it's growing on me. Yes, it would be closer to the animated movie if it were silver/blue, but I like the purple. They went in a completely different direction from the animated movie (her hair is also down), and in my opinion it works. It looks really good.
I'm dying to see some actual footage from the movie. Maybe the dress looks stunning on screen.
EDIT: I just read
rodrigo_ca's comment about the dress being (VERY) blue in the movie. I guess the picture just makes it appear purple-ish..?

How narrowing it would have been if the insanely talented Sandy Powell had to replicate the dress from the 1950 film...

Maybe she could have taken maybe a bit more inspiration from the Classic ? Or maybe a little homage to it somewhere ? That would have been lovely.
I'm in no way disrespecting her talent at all, just a thought. Which probably leads me to my confusion with this production; not sure if it's a remake or a homage or a separate entity...or indeed, just 'inspired by'. I'm sure it will be wonderful though, nonetheless.
