- However, the new trailer confirms that there WILL be a DVD only release now while the other one didn't.
TOTAL F.U.D. the trailer on Ponyo does not indicate that Fantasia is only a dvd release. Quite the opposite in fact the font for bluray is in big bold lettering while underneath is much smaller font it says also availble on Disney DVD i just rewatched it again on the bluray of Ponyo. Also the dvd of Ponyo doesnt even include a trailer for Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 Furthermore i was in the audience for the elcaptian panel for fantasia 2000 back in feb and they specificly talked about the bluray release and said it is definately comming in december to tie in with the home video release of the live action Sorcerers Apprentice. Nice try though.
I understand how you could have misread his post, but he means a DVD release will accompany the BD release this year. Previously, we didn't know that.

Good afternoon dudes and dudettes

Just received my copy of 'Dumbo' on blu-ray here in the U.K, and have some interesting bits of news.

Firstly, the Fantasia trailer isn't even on the disc! Beauty and The Beast is the only 'Coming Soon' trailer... Disney are really pushing this little bitch! The Sneak Peaks menu doesn't reveal it either. This is very strange as even the Toy Story blu ray included it and thats a Disney-Pixar film, so the mind boggles.

Secondly, it includes some extras called 'Disney DVD Classics'. I know some of you were wondering about whether certain documentaries would be included, so it looks as though these may have been carried over? I'm not sure, I didn't own any of the previous DVD releases.

Thirdly, the restoration is just as good as Snow White. Everything is stabilised, previously incoherent artwork is now visible, and on that subject, its nice to see that the original colour inconsistencies/scruffy brush strokes have been kept in.

Am I impressed? I sure am, and even the slipcase has a nice sheen to it which the Snow White one didn't ;)

Although the UK "Dumbo" Blu-ray does not feature the Fantasia trailer, it does appear as a coming soon item in the leaflet inside the Blu-ray.

Rather unimpressed with the cover, I know it's iconic and all and it's what I was expecting but there is more to the film than The Sorcerer's Apprentice. I'd like an abstract cover really.

For once I would love to see Chernabog somewhere on the cover for Fantasia. Probably not ever gonna happen :(

I doubt those are the final cover art, although they may end up being close. It think Fantasia will have 70th Anniversary and Beauty and the Beast will have 20th Anniversary somewhere on the covers. You know Disney, they love to take advantage of that kind of thing.

Also, I still hate that it only says Disney above the film title. It could at least say Walt Disney as they did in the past (although I'd preferably have Walt Disney's above Fantasia and Walt Disney Pictures Presents above Beauty and the Beast). Just Disney is so cheap looking, the least they could do is compromise with Walt Disney like on the Snow White, Pinocchio and Sleeping Beauty Blu-rays.

I've just looked at the same leaflet in my case and the little * at the bottom says 'Cover art may vary', which obviously means it undoubtedly will. That was just the DVD 'Classics' cover, they wouldn't use it again.

But the fact that, although their wasn't the trailer on the disc, it says 'Coming Soon' on the leaflet (of which this is the first we've seen) is very encouraging. I really think we'll see Fantasia before Beauty and The Beast, simply because the trailer has never said a specific date like B & The Beast - always 'Coming Soon', which usually means within 4 months. With Dumbo just been released and B & The Beast in October, it would make sense to sandwich Fantasia inbetween with 3 traditional releases together.

I don't see why it wouldn't... I mean, the Queen took center stage on Snow White's BD release... He's never going to take higher priority than Mickey, of course, but I could see them doing a cover with Mickey up front and Chernabog behind, a la this poster:

The problem these days is that the Disney company is trying to make these releases appeal to a much wider audience, and as such, making the covers more colourful, younger and friendlier. Although we all know (as fans of Fantasia) that Chernabog is a wonderfully powerful character, prospective 'mum and dad' may be put off by the picture of a devil-like-creature on the cover.

I anticipate it will be dumbed down to look as friendly and contemporary as possible; Mickey in the centre with various other characters being lined around the edge, much like the Snow White release.

I don't think Chernbog will make the front cover in this day and age....he might be one of the most unknown Disney Villains that is so evil he Makes Hades look like the tooth fairy in a tutu .......the second unknown villain or not often recognized villain is The Horned King from The Black Cauldron in my opinon followed by Shan Yu for Mulan.....

There could be a picture of Chernabog on the back of the box if he were to make the box at all....

Also....Fantasia to me....really isn't what a 2 year old would want to watch in this day and age.....its more...really sophisticated to what Mickey has been built up to today (thank you Playhouse Disney :x ) that Mickey is just there to teach your kids abcs and compete with Nick Jr...same with Winnie The Pooh

These days? I figured they've always done that . . . I'm not talking about Fantasia specifically but most of their releases in general.

These days, Beauty and the Beast wouldn't have very many love-themed posters either.

We can't be sure that that is what the cover art will be. The cover for P&TF is nothing like the cover for the final product.

Well, there you go. It looks like all my speculation that Fantasia World would be a collection of the Fantasia 2006 shorts has been confirmed (YAY, my signature is official). Now we just have to wait and see how much of the Fantasia Legacy extras survive.

I know mine is real crowded an it accidentally made use of the mirror in snow white as a border for the title
( in my defense I didn't recognize that early on  )
but...
I believe all significant characters are there, right?

so here's the original....

and continued....

Hope y'all like it

'The Little Matchgirl' may be part of Fantasia World. I'd take a long shot and guess that that will be a separate disc in the package, which will also contain the extras. Given they don't normally have more than three discs, this would make sense. But if its sold separately, I'm not paying another £16 for a few extra short sequences.
