Brother Bear/Brave similarities:
1) it's set in a mythical and spiritual setting filled with magical elements
2) a young and immature boy/girl sets out to kill a bear going against their culture's customs and traditions
3) killing the bear was a big mistake as punishment enfolds (Kenai becomes a bear/ this "unleashes chaos and fury in the kingdom" in Brave)
4) it involves an eccentric old witch/shaman-woman who helps them
5) they embark on a quest to undo the consequences of their actions
6) their journey essentially becomes a rite of passage, they discover themselves and their place in the world, they finally appreciate their culture's tradition, and learn important moral messages like the "meaning of true bravery" and the "meaning of true love/brotherhood".

I like Merida a lot more is the teaser than in the artwork we saw before! She looks cute and I just LOVE the hair (like I said a million times before

).
The bear looks more like an evil animal/person/whatever to me than a prince. And I don't think we can already say it has a lot of similarities with Brother Bear, we barely know the story of Brave and who the bear is and why Merida tries to kill him.

I think you're on to something.
Anyway, Brave has Miyazaki written all over it anyway. This is gonna do well in Japan.

Tangled and Pirates did just fine despite the earthquake.

Welp, the Youtube Brave trailer is gone
Are they seriously refusing to release the teaser online? That's ridiculous.

It would seem like it.

Anyway someone else uploaded it again.

Also a better quality one without the annoying chairs.

It's in Italian though.

Such a wonderful mysterious tone and beautiful scenery in the trailer and then Wham! Huge balloon head! Kind of an odd mismatch between her looks and the rest of the trailer.
On the other hand, she is WAY more striking and interesting looking than the more conventionally pretty but bland and generic looking as h*** Rapunzel. Still I wish her face was more normally shaped. It is still possible to look spunky and full of character without having a face that is wider than it is long.

I'm a little late with this, but thank you! I probably shouldn't have posted it when I was half asleep, I went back and touched up a couple of things later, lol.

I know a lot of people are complaining about her design right now, but I honestly don't think we've seen enough of her to get an actual feel for how well it may work. Most of the poses and expressions we've been given seem to be at odd/extreme moments rather than having something a little more straightforward. I might be way off but I tried to capture what may be a more demure side of her with this piece.

wow!!! i only hope the actual design is just as stunning. i want to say she needs some really faint freckles, but i also think theyd ruin her. shes just stunning... gorgeous.

Thanks!

And you know, I honestly planned on giving her freckles at some point, but I must have forgotten after dealing with my second effort to paint all that curly hair; my first try looked pretty bad and I had to ditch it.
Maybe I'll try out some faint freckles on her once I'm more awake.
