I think just because a movie has a dark tone to it doesn't mean it can't be a "happy" movie. I really think you should give this one a try you may be surprised.
I've decided to not compare this one at all to Walt Disney's version. I'm looking at Burton's as a whole new take on the novel. For me, comparing it would either really thrill or dissapoint, so I'm just going to walk in the theater and watch this as a total surprise and see how I like it as another individual adaptation. Similar to when I watch Disney's
Pocahontas, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty etc. these days I look at them as seperate stories without pinpointing it to the original historic/fairytale version.

THAT is one of the most REFRESHING things I have heard. I hope you
don't get bored of them. We all want to be happy, it only makes sense to like watching happy things. I think that's wonderful.
I like Red Queen's boots!
Doesn't anyone notice they
are using stuff from Walt Disney's version? The Red Queen has black, red, and gold colors. Alice is blond and wears blue and white. "Don't be late for a very important date" is from the Disney version. I think there will be lots of little references to Disney's version.

I just became a fan of the White Queen! Not like the trailer won't show up on YouTube, but I want to see it!!! Thinking back now, though, surely the Mad Hatter will get the most fans...maybe I should switch!
I'm seeing a screening of G-Force today- you don't think that they'd show the trailer for Alice in Wonderland, do you?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I don't really think the film looks that "dark," though I was surprised to hear a lot of bloody things will be occurring in the movie. It just looks that way because of Burton's direction. I can understand why someone might not like the movie though; when I go into a Burton film, I pretty much expect how things will be. His style is mostly predictable (though that's not automatically a bad thing). But I suppose that's why everyone knows his name.
Also, I think having elements of the Disney film is a given. To me, this movie seems more in love with popular culture's view of Alice rather than with the books. Most people haven't read the stories, and only really know Alice as a blonde girl in an insane Wonderland. I'm glad they're incorporating the books for the most part, but this movie doesn't scream "book adaptation" to me anyway. More like "graphic whores" adaptation.

I always liked Miranda Richardson's portrayal of her, as well!

Yes! I like that adaptation a lot. Miranda Richardson has that voice I just love! Lol very reminiscent of Queenie in
Balckadder.

*views teaser* ok i'm impressed, the sets look wonderful, course I'm curious bout the couple of things
who's the guy with the eye patch, was that the Dodo I saw scoopin up the Tweedle Bros and the big white furry thing roarin at Alice or somethin?? please tell that's not the Jabberwocky.
Cheshire Cat kinda failed to live up to my expectation, was hopin he'd be alil swave, tricky yet loveable and alil troublesome.
Other then that I'm highly impressed with this teaser and can't wait for the full one.

Mason, you don't know anything about the cat's personality at all from the trailer!
OK, so...it looks marvelous, wonderful, and feels creepy mystery cool. LOVE the music, especially when she drinks the bottle, wow.
BUT...the CGI...ehhh. The Red Queen's head indeed is a bit too big for me, and looks fake, almost unfinished. The Chesire cat as well.
When will they learn. Wait, wait until CGI gets good enough to look real or actually like it's
in the film on the same level as the real objects.
Or use puppets and animatronics, like that 1999 version.
Look at this video of the 1999 version. Look at the puppets of the animals. Or if they're CGI, they're brilliant. They look real and like they're actually in the film.

True but I meant design wise, it came off a tad oddish which is ok. I'm sure we'll see more of him in the full trailer(s) later on.
I like the epic feeling the teaser gives the audience, course I wish they kick off the offical trailer with various clips from the multiple adaptions.

Hm, I would say the cat and all Wonderland creatures should look odd because they are odd, Mason, maybe you meant he should look more in control and less crazy? But they're all mad there!
Thanks Old Fish Tale, maybe I wouldn't say they look god-awful but they do not look very good and I do not understand how they let that happen.
