You and me both, but I don't think that's happening any time soon.
I'd love if they did something with the Grimm fairytale of "The Six Servants", about a princess who is controlled by an overbearing mother and gives suitors impossible tasks to fullfill in order to be given a chance to woo her. With the help of 6 servants who each possess a certain specific speciality/power one suitor tries to free the princess.
I could also see something coming from fairytales like "Rumpelstiltzkin", "The Story of a Boy Who Went Forth to Learn Fear", "The Six Swans" or maybe a story where popular fairy tales are connected that by themselves wouldn't be interesting enough as a feature length movie...
Or maybe use a more recent novel set in a fairy tale type of world, there must be dozens of good stories out there that could be adapted to create original classic fairy tales set in fantastical worlds...

Wait, a full trailer? They consider the "teaser trailer" to be the "first look" trailer, the one with only the image of the house with the butterfly? I mean, I will absolutely take a full trailer, but I'm surprised if they skip over a legit teaser trailer...?

Isn't it weird we're getting a trailer ahead of an official first-look image? Doesn't Disney usually partner with magazines like Entertainment Weekly or USA Today to give us our first glimpse of the characters?

I'd love that, too. Magic, a romance, a great villain, etc. Sadly, the studio of today isn't capable of such a movie, imo.

They probably want most people's first impression of Mirabel to be in movement, since still shots of her design receive a divided reaction, it seems.

Well, it shouldn`t have been an unreasonable thing to hope for. Considering that Disney has made six classic fantasy/fairy movies lately (one of them not being a musical), despite how none of them were living up by the standards of their predecessors (in my opinion). So it shouldn`t be something contradictory to want and expect from Disney. I thought the future for WDAS was looking brighter without Lasseter. But it seems like it will be the opposite from now on.

True. But since Disney have been more sparse with the information of their new releases every year, it`s not strange that the trailer will get ahead the first official look-image. Remember that
Raya only had two pictures exposed before the trailer of her movie was released.

I really truly have no idea what to expect from this movie. I hope I'll be pleasantly surprised by the trailer tomorrow...

Well, it was a nice poster with a lot of atmosphere. Despite that I`m not so keen on the designs of the animals.

It makes me think of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Btw, in the upper left corner there are a few framed pictures showing some of the characters, such as Mirabel!

The teaser poster is atmospheric and all, but it's not very different from that
first look trailer which was already reminiscent of that first
teaser trailer for Tangled. It kinda feels repetitive and unimaginative by now. Also, I'm not fond of that lens flare that's everywhere or whatever that light effect is. The capybara's expression makes it look like a character while the rest of the animals look more like animals.

Based on the photographs it seems like the time period is going to be 1880-1930.

^that's awesome! though someone who knows Columbia's history should look up what was going on during those time periods, Disney probably made sure to avoid setting it during any period there was any kind of conflict.
I already love the capybara. Im just glad they are using actual South American animal species after the made up Pokemon of Raya.

Thank you for posting those zoomed in images. I tried to do it myself, but the only one I could make out much to identify them was the picture of Antonio. So Mirabel's face is more like her father's.
So, wait, if Andrea's the grandmother, who was Julieta? Her grandmother from the other side of the family?

Julieta's the mother. I'm guessing the grandfather and the other set of grandparents have passed away.

Oh, okay. I looked at the picture of the parents, but I didn't pay attention to the names you'd posted at the time. My bad. So Mirabel's father has probably passed away since we didn't see him before this. And her feeling like an outsider to the family (and looking like her father more than the other children) probably signifies a lot of her story will revolve around how she was close to her father, at least that's my guess. So another princess with daddy issues.

An early casting call included her father as a character. Unless things changed since then, I don't think her father will be absent from the story. I suppose it's possible he'll only be in the film early on like Tiana's dad was.
