Thanks! That's actually a pretty nice song. I don't think I ever listened to it before. I wonder how come certain territories get original "inspired by" songs attached to Disney or Pixar releases while others don't. What's the selection process? Do local Disney branches get to decide that?

I wonder if this has to do with Lasseter's ouster or Ratzenberger's politics.

Yes, exactly. Well, I only read the quotes you posted, not the whole conversation, so I don't know if you two were in the middle of a heated argument, for example, but anyway, attacking other people's beliefs like that and basically calling you stupid for believing in what you believed is not right in my opinion.

I wonder all that too. By the way, maybe you already knew this, but in Spain there's also a WDAS film in which this happens: The Rescuers Down Under. In the original version there are no songs, but here this song was heard during the end credits. However, it hasn't been included in the DVD nor the Blu-ray editions of the film. Curiously, the singer who performed that song is actually American but was living in Spain back then. She also performed the end credit songs for Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin and recorded three albums of Disney songs. I've actually discovered some of these things now. I remember seeing her on TV when I was a child singing "Beauty and the Beast" and "A Whole New World", but I hadn't even realized the song in the Rescuers Down Under was also performed by her.

These auto-generated captions are sometimes hilarious! I've written the lyrics down for you and I've tried to translate them (translations in blue below each line). The lyrics are not very good; they simply describe events that happen in the movie, but the melody at least is catchy (and very 80s). I'm not sure about the part in red, but I think it's just onomatopoeias what she sings there. And actually I had never understood what she repeated in the chorus was Bernard and Bianca until now. I don't know if it's because she sings that part quite fast or why, but even now I was struggling to understand what she says there. But then I realized that if the song is called Bernard and Bianca, they must be mentioned somewhere in the song. By the way, the song mentions Cangurolandia (Kangarooland) because that word is in the Spanish title: Los Rescatadores en Cangurolandia (The Rescuers in Kangarooland), though I think it's never mentioned in the film itself. I guess they made up that word to replace the "Down Under" from the original title since that way of referring to Australia doesn't exist in Spanish.

No, I had no idea. That's fascinating. So, the song was only part of the theatrical and VHS edition? That's such a shame. I wonder why it was omitted from the DVD/Blu-ray edition. Was it a rights issue? Was Disney being cheap again and didn't want to pay royalties? I hate it when they do that. It's bad enough they commission new dubs to screw actors out of royalties, but completely remove a song? That's an integral part of the movie for a generation of people.

To my knowledge, there haven't been any allegations against him. However, he is a vocal Trump supporter, so perhaps that was a consideration. The Ratzenberger cameos was something Lasseter pushed for, and now that he's gone, maybe the new management decided to change direction and stop doing them.

Yes, the song was only attached to the film in theaters and on VHS. I don't know why it was omitted from the most recent home video editions, but I completely agree with you; it's unacceptable that they do things like this and don't care more about the fans.

I think the second option is more likely then. I wonder if WDAS' own lucky charm, Alan Tudyk, will also stop having roles in every new movie as well. I guess we'll know when Raya's full casting is announced.

Thank you D82. He didn't come out and say I was stupid, but he tried to explain why my beliefs which don't hurt anyone and make me happy were wrong.

Interesting enough, I remember a time when Bill Hader was going to be Pixar's next "good luck charm." He had voice roles in Monsters University, Inside Out, Finding Dory and Bob Peterson's version of The Good Dinosaur. They even did a ceremony joking about him replacing John Ratzenberger at D23. But since Dory, he's only showed up in Toy Story 4.

I had forgotten about that. It's true, for a time it seemed he was going to be the new John Ratzenberger, but as you say, he hasn't continued voicing a character in every movie.

Joe auditioned for the Dorothea Williams Quartet, and got an offer to play with the band to see if he's a good fit. Then he was on his phone, stepped out of the way of a motorcycle, and fell into the hole to The Great Beyond. The counselors thought that Joe was a lost mentor; they gave him 22 to mentor. "She agreed to give him her Earth Pass as soon as they found her Spark." Joe and 22 went to The Hall of Everything, to find 22's "spark" (profession). 22 introduced Joe to "the Mystics," whose "minds were in the Astral Plane, their bodies were still on Earth." There was an open portal to Earth, Joe jumped, accidentally bringing 22 with him. You guys were right- Joe is the cat and 22 is in Joe's body. Joe wanted to find Moonwind to help. Joe and 22 had pizza, and 22 felt better. Moonwind told Joe that he could help. One of Joe's students came to his home because she wanted to quit, but she really liked music. 22 felt "inspired." They went to the barber shop, and 22 had a good time chatting with the people there. Joe/22's hat felt off and his pants ripped, so they went to visit him mom's tailor shop. His mom gave him his dad's suit. 22 was liking Earth, but still didn't have a "spark." She didn't want to find it in the You Seminar; she wanted to find it on Earth. Terry found Joe and 22 and "A portal scooped up Joe and 22" and they went back to the You Seminar. 22 gave Joe the Earth Pass that she was given. Joe played with the Quartet, but "Joe felt strangely unfulfilled." His pockets were full of stuff that 22 collected. Joe ended up on the Astral Plane. 22 was now a "lost soul, angry and destructive." Joe gave 22 an item that was in his pocket (a leaf), and 22 calmed down. Joe gave 22 back the Earth Pass. 22 said, "But we never found out what filled in my last box." Joe said, "It doesn't matter. It's what you do with it that counts." They both leapt in the portal, and Joe returned to the Great Beyond. Joe was an inspiration to the counselors, and they gave him an Earth Portal. "Joe took one more fateful step, unsure of what lay ahead, but prepared to appreciate each and every moment of his wonderful life."

Also, I don't know if they've seen the entire film or just the first 30 minutes, but the people from Pixar Post say that what we've heard from Jon Batiste's song "Born to Play" is the full song, or at least the part that Joe plays in the movie. They also say it doesn't have any words. We'll see. I think it's possible there'll be an extended version on the soundtrack that may contain some lyrics.

So, for the earlier post with the Jon Batiste song - I believe that is the complete song (or, at least how Joe plays it...you'll see) and no, it doesn't have any words.
