^ Well, she likes "The Princess and The Frog", and I see a lot of songs in there being filler too. Anyway, now that we know which songs the movie has I don't think it's TOO much or filler. But still, I'll have to wait until I see the movie to finally talk about it.
And I haven't even watched the movie and I did saw PoC in the background at least. It's good to read that Olaf was better that she thought.

I said "flop" because of all the criticism around the movie about it being too adult and stuff, and because I thought it didn't go too well at box office, but I was not that sure, sorry if I was mistaken. And on the other hand I said flop because of it now winning too much that I know. I said ""flop"" with signs because I didn't think it went really bad, but not as good as other Disney classics.

I think Hunchback of Notre Dame is one of Disney's greatest movies. Besides, the renaissance in the 90's was the best decade of my life. Okay, back to Frozen.

Reading that tumblr review was really cringe worthy because it just seems to be whining instead of any actual good criticism of the movie. I mean whining about a lack of POC especially in the fact that in this setting other foreigners would probably be Caucasian as well. And her complaint about it not be female empowering enough really makes me want to face palm.

Given that most initial reactions have been extremely positive, I hope this isn't a case where the one negative opinion gets undue attention just for being negative (a la the Beyond the Trailer situation times ten):

I'd be more interested to hear what kids and parents think about it, simply because I believe that they are a tad closer to the film's target audience and will comprise the vast majority of its viewers.

I think that too! I actually said I loved Hunchback even though it didn't win anything so, If I like Frozen, I wouldn't care about that. I also wrote a post long ago in tumblr about the message Hunchback gives us about loving and letting go. I love the movie and still get chills at the beginning.
Now yes, back to Frozen

Well, it's obvious that she wasn't really fond of the film even besides those complaints about race and gender. Can't just dismiss her complaints as random whining, she did take efforts to explain her point of view.

Could also be that this opinion does go into more detail and hence, there is more to discuss. (Yes, I know that most people who've attended pre-screenings are under embargo).

I am so excited for this movie.. words cannot describe how excited I am..
I was talking to a friend of mine today, and I told her that no body in my City knows about Frozen. She didn't believe me..
And I actually think that's true. I was out today and I told a mother about Frozen while we we're waiting and she couldn't believe that she didn't know what it was. She said that her Daughter's favorite movie is Tangled. So she was shocked!
I feel kind of silly going around advertising Frozen, but I really want people to see this movie, and not because I want it to do well, but I want them to genuinely be surprised by how good the movie is.

Cuz like?! Geez I thought I read somewhere that they weren't going to use so much anochronistic language but it seems to even be worse than Tangled. Ugh.

Noticed that too, but that isn't a big deal. It's 2013, Aladdin was a more modern than that

You know, I seriously doubt that in mid-19th century Italy, a kid would refer to a theme park as a "swell joint" or colonial Americans sounded jazzy like Bing Crosby. See? Even in those days, the dialogue was pretty modern for the times those films were released.

Most of the modern language in Aladdin came from the Genie, which I could accept since he was a magical being who has apparently been through many eras, including future ones. I don't recall Aladdin or Jasmine using any jarringly modern language. I'm sure I will still enjoy Frozen, but I think having language like this keeps it from being as timeless as it can be.

Well, what about Iago? He didn't have magic powers or the ability to see into the future and all that unless Jafar did some time traveling and took Iago with him.

I guess you're right about that. However, I do not consider Aladdin as timeless as say, Beauty and the Beast, and a big part of it is because of all the modern jivy stuff.

But seriously, there's always a certain amount of suspended belief when it comes to period-esque pieces. They still have to capture something of the feel and era of course, but have to do so in a way that modern audiences can understand and relate to. Frankly, I don't understand the need for any of these films to be a specific definition of
timeless; even films like Snow White, Pinocchio, and especially an example such as Jungle Book have elements that date them and remove them somewhat from modern audiences.
