"Wouldn't it be amazing if this w/e there was a big #Zootopia announcment online? That would be so cool, wouldn't it?"
Haha.

Sorry, I know that it's condescending of me to do so, but I couldn't resist.

Seriously?
Alan Tudyk returns to Disney Animation’s recording studio for his fourth feature in a row as the voice of DUKE WEASELTON, a small-time weasel crook with a big-time weasel mouth, who tries to give Judy the slip during a police chase.

You've got to be kidding me!

Seriously :D! That was a tongue-in-cheek joke.

Either way, I'm getting a "Chicken Little"-vibe from the characters.

That might be just first impressions because I think this will be a million times better than that movie.

Well, they are both Disney CG-animated films starring anthropomorphic animals. There are bound to be similarities in visual style. Duke Weaselton reminds me more of Scrat from Ice Age than anything else, to be honest.

Disney is not exactly known for diversity in character design. Their approach to design now is more safe and conventional than ever before. Disney's success in the early 90s gave way to experimentation with visual guides that deviated from the traditional Disney house style. But those days are long gone. Don't expect now to see something as stylistically different as Hercules, Mulan, Atlantis, Lilo & Stitch, The Emperor's New Groove, etc.

It may seem shallow to compare them due to those reasons, but it's still relevant. But due to "Chicken Little" being labeled as an artistic dud (by the majority), one must wonder if it's going be marketed as the opposite. Especially due to being at Lasseter's vein, haha! :D :P

Oh yes, indeed! At least the designs for "Tangled" had a certain Disney-esque look to it. And "Wreck-It-Ralph" had passable designs. Otherwise, I agree. If it weren't for that "Frozen" had the Disney logo and was a musical, it could've been assumed it was a DreamWorks and BlueSky production in terms of designs. All the "Frozen" designs looked even more generic than any "Tinker Bell" character. Just look at how Rapunzel's design influenced both Anna and Honey Lemon (though it's been discussed to death, but still).

Unfortunately, *sighs*. I wasn't particularly fond of the Nickolodeon-esque designs of the humans in "Lilo & Stitch", but Disney used to give us great designs priorly, as well as stylistic looks to their films.

Could be.

If it were a small in-joke, I would be less put off but the fact that it's a more prominent character is just stupid.

^Agreed. What a tacky way to have Frozen be involved with something! How do you think they’ll incorporate Frozen in Moana then?

And just an educated guess but I have a feeling that Mayor Lionhearted is going to be the villain.

It's just a joke, I don't think its really groan worthy. I don't think it was to incorporate Frozen but just a mythology gag.

Agreed. If it were just a brief cameo character, it might have been cute but this is just cringe-worthy.

I haven't read a character description yet; I've been super-excited for this movie, and maybe only in name will this character be cringeworthy, but what the heck were you thinking, Disney?!? Maybe they thought that it's praising Alan Tudyk, but it just puts a sour taste in our mouths. I mean, B&tB was a huge success, but they didn't name Ratcliffe, The Archdeacon, or Jumba after Cogsworth, if you catch my drift... :(

Umm... I actually love the Duke Weasletown joke.. I chuckled.

I think it's just disney capitalizing on a good joke rather than trying to shove frozen into this... If you see a Frozen poster (Animal actors) in the movie then I can complain. But I think this is a funny joke.

Am I the only one who looked at those characters and thought: Hm... These characters A LOT like the characters from Robin Hood! Especially Lionheart! The character design looks so much like classic Disney and not at all like Chicken Little.

I still loathe that stupid look on Nick's face....

Each time I come on this board to read the comments on the animated movies from Disney Feature Animation, I have the bad taste of people always complaining.
I feel the very same that Robster16 posted on the Moana thread.
I though we were first supposed to be Disney fans and whatever Disney is releasing since Tangled is always judged, criticized in a pessimistic and negative way. This is just boring to me.
It's fine and OK to share our points of views, our hopes and what we like or not of course but those last years, there are only people who continue to post here and have mostly always something bad to say.
It looks like you have fun together to complain but you should go watch some other films if you want diversity, 2D or something different...well anything that is not Disney!
I still love Disney animated films : they are fun, they have positive messages for children and even adults, they make me dream, I like the visuals, the quality of animation and storytelling, and above all, they still have sweet and endearing characters to love and cherish. I don't mean I like everything in their movies and I am also open to watch other films in worldwide animation industry, but that forum became such a mess of negative comments for people who pretend to be Disney lovers or fans.
Enough for me.

Prince Kido I'm so sorry if we give you headaches. I'm looking forward to this movie. It looks fun! :D We just don't like some things and that's alright.

And if you think we're bad, go check out Tumblr. :P

Also interested in this movie. It's just that joke is pretty groan inducing to me.
