It may have been mentioned before but is this release Region free?

And forgive me for my ignorance but how do we know what Blu Ray releases are in fact region free? There isn't a website detailing information like this is there? Thankyou for you help in advance

Yes it is region free (at least, the copy I imported plays fine on my Region B player, and the region code label says ABC).

To find out what blu-ray releases are region free, I'd recommend either http://www.movietyme.com, or http://regionfreemovies.com. (Movietyme is good because it tests each release to confirm its region coding, rather than simply relying on the label.)

My copy (American) is region free also

'Alice in Wonderland' will be released in the United Kingdom tomorrow! Will someone also buy the new DVD release?
A few weeks ago, I wrote to Disney Online Support UK asking if this new DVD release would include the new transfer used in the Blu-Ray and they said that "everything, including the bonus features received a full restoration"... I wonder if it is really true. It would make sense, since the label for the new DVD release is "60th Anniversary Edition" and not "Special Un-Anniversary Edition"...

I got it a week ago. I love the new new transfer. Looks terrific!

I bought the dvd this weekend (Netherlands R2) and it was the new transfer, which is also on the Blu(i have to say that it looked amazing, so the blu will be even more ) So i think the dvd that is included in the combo-pack will probably(99%) be the new transfer too
(if not, it would be really stupid , hence to putting two new dvds on the market, making only double costs)

I'm glad I never bought a single copy of Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo, or Mary Poppins on DVD since they keep rereleasing these films an insane amt of times in different formats.

I just received my 60th anniversary edition DVD of Alice in Wonderland! Hope I can watch it tonight! Only irritating thing is the label pasted on the case with this message:

" Why not try the BLU-RAY & DVD DOUBLE PLAY PACK?"

Yes, I know Disney wants everyone to go blu ray, but why does the message have to be forced down my throat like that? I just bought the dvd, are they unhappy I didn't buy the more expensive Blu-ray edition? You know what Disney, let's make a deal; you give me a Blu-ray player and I'll buy your blu-ray discs, okay?

...in all fairness, that's hardly being forced down your throat. It would be excessive if, say, the movie began with an unskippable message about buying the combo pack, or had a pop-up during the end credits. I wouldn't get too worked up over a sticker.

Or if Mickey ran up to you in the check out line, grabbed the DVD out of your hand, and shoved the Combo at you, then held a gun to your head while you paid the extra few bucks for it.

Seriously. You're not being forced to buy ANYTHING. It's hardly being shoved down your throat. It's a business. They have to make money. Advertising is a part of making money.

When making a purchase, you want to feel good about spending your money and feel appreciated by the company you're giving your money to. The sticker that says, "why not try the bluray dvd combo pack" can make dvd buyers feel like they're buying an inferior product or that, even though they're giving Disney their money, that it's not enough. It's advertising, yes, but it's a bit off-putting.

Without turning this into yet another DVD vs. Blu-ray thing, they ARE buying an inferior product. That doesn't mean DVD is BAD or that if it's what you want then that's great, but you can't argue that it's not inferior to a Blu-ray.

Here we have a sticker that says "also available on blu-ray + DVD combo pack" which imo is far less throat-shovingful.

I agree...that's a much friendlier way to promote the other product.

My God, it's just a sticker. "Why not try the BLU-RAY & DVD DOUBLE PLAY PACK?" is hardly hostile. It's not like it's saying "WAY TO WASTE YOUR MONEY ON SOMETHING YOU'LL BE USING AS A COASTER IN A FEW YEARS, YOU DUMBASS." If it upsets you that much, you can peel it off, okay?

I got over it now, so let's quit this discussion. I was only half in earnest anyway! My 'inferior product' is still much better than what I've got before, and seems to contain a lot of bonus features. I'm quite satisfied.

And yes, I've peeled the label off.

By the way, it seems as if some of you are even more offended by my comment than I ever was by the label! (how dare you critisize the blu-ray promotion! )

Once more; let's quit it!

Could someone please confirm me if the DVD released in the United Kingdom also includes the transfer used in the Blu-Ray?
