I'm saying the "instead" option is absolutely not happening. They'd never skip out on a theatrical release.

The streaming service isn't set to go online until late next year, while Toy Story 4 is set to open in the summer, anyway.

I think for their theatrical releases, like Toy Story 4, Disney will do something similar to their deal with Netflix, where they are added to Disney+ about three months after the home video release.

When I saw Ralph Breaks the Internet, both TS4 teaser trailers played, and both got HUGE, huge reactions (positive reactions!) from the audience.

Im sure its just a marketing tactic. Don't wanna reveal it all at once. We still don't know who's gonna be mr potatohead.

Same. They got the most reactions out of anything that was shown.

Judging by that poster, it seems the carnival setting will be important in the film.

No need to judge by the poster, its right in the recent description.

I mean a really important role in the story like Sunnyside in Toy Story 3, given that even the title is in a carnival style.

You could say this about any movie coming out of WDAS or PIXAR, original or sequel. And yet they'll somehow be lauded for 'breaking the mold' again.

Why do you think they use this trope again and again ... through ease ? Or I suppose it allows the world expansion to happen in a simple way.

They might assume staying in one location would be considered too boring for audiences. I remember them talking about how restricted they felt in the first toy story to two basic locations, Andy's house and sids house. But for me, I miss that. I wish they would be brave enough to limit themselves these days more. You get to spend more time with the characters rather than introducing new sets.

Well Toy Story Midway Mania will have lots of new material for the ride. They better update the ride for the new movie.

Hmm. I know this is probably premature as we only have an unfinished image to by, but I'm not feeling the updated look. I don't like that they "smoothed" her design. They gave her larger, rounder eyes and a more defined nose to make her more feminine and cartoony. She looks less like a real porcelain figurine now. The shape of her hair in the front looks different too. This will need some getting used to.
