not getting this.....my dad and I got bought three copies of the release from 6 years ago and at the time they offered a free Thumper plush at Best Buy. We got the copies for myself, my sister's family and my brother's family.

So, as much as I'd love it on Blu Ray...I'm passing. I only double dipped on B&TB and Sleeping Beauty cause I love those movies. I love Bambi, but it still makes me cry....

Going to Wally World tomorrow to get this for $14.96 with my coupon! Can't wait!

Just picked it up at Target for $12.99 with the coupon. It did come with the bonus disc in a separate sleeve (it was with both the blu-ray and silver dvd packaging) ...BUT, the frackin bonus sleeve was GLUED to the back of the clamshell case inside the shrink wrap. When I tried to remove it, it all but ripped the plastic off the back of the blu-ray case and has left it wrinkled and distorted. As a collector, needless to say I am not happy about them ruining the package. I don't know why they didn't JUST place it in the shrink wrap??? There was no need for the glue. :x

Anyhoos, I decided not to take it back, because I was afraid I couldn't get my coupon back to use somewhere else, so I'll just have to switch out the Bambi sleeve with another blu-ray case of something I don't care as much about. Anyhoo, just wanted to jump on here and warn anyone like me who is more concerned with the package than the extra bonus disc, which doesn't look to be that interesting. Ugh.

What's this bonus disc everyone speaks of? The DVD copy itself? :?

Target is offering a bonus disc with the release, I think someone said it has games and activities on it and is hosted by a couple of Disney Channel stars.

Sorry to hear about that. :( The same kind of thing happened to me with the Sleeping Beauty Blu-ray. The DVD copy was in a cardboard sleeve tacked to the front, and even though I removed it very gently it left to raised circles where the tacky stuff had been! I ended up buying some replacement cases and switching them out.

You can usually find replacement cases in small quantities (like 1, 2, or 3) on eBay for cheap. Just make you get the right brand and size so the paper artwork fits correctly. Usually the brand name will be in raised text on the inside of the case, typically in the spine area or one of the corners. I think Disney uses mostly Viva Elite cases, but some releases come in the Vortex cases. The Vortex cases are easy to spot due to the fact that they have an "indented" oval shape around the silver "Blu-ray Disc" logo on the front while the Viva Elite just has the silver logo and no oval.

I may be in the dumb section with this question but wasn't it stated earlier that sneak peeks weren't included on the Blu-ray?

My Blu-ray has sneeks.

Also, when you click on "bonus features", then "info"....what is the point in this, all I get is a copyright thing for the Oscar statuette. Anyone else having this problem or is this the way it's supposed to be?

The "info" feature was equally useless on Secretariat and Toy Story 3. I think those were the two other titles I encountered it on.

Just got mine from Best Buy, I took off the sticker of the price, but does anyone know if taking off The Limited Time sticker will mess up the slipcover? The other two I took off without any problems and I just want to know if I can take the Limited Time off with no problems also....

I was able to take mine off with no problem.

Just picked up the Bambi Blu-ray at Best Buy with no problem - used the $10 Best Buy coupon from DMR. Surprisingly, the hideous cover looks much better in person.

Can't wait to watch this! Seriously, $12.99 for the Blu-ray and DVD is a steal and I don't know how anyone could pass this up. Disney's restorations are amazing and seeing these films in HD is breathtaking. I always sell my DVDs as soon as the Blu-ray is announced.

Well I just got it and have a few quick thoughts:

- the cover art is nice but the vertical lettering is fugly
- first DAC to have a different color outside of blue along the spine
- the previews are still there and take forever to load (I wish they'd drop them)
- the menu is simple to navigate and instantly loaded after the previews (no delay)
- the menu is gorgeous, the best so far
- like Alice, no BDLive
- no lossless audio. While not really a big deal on a title like this, I'm worried it is setting a precedence that will rob future titles that would take advantage of lossless
- no RKO opening card. It stands out even more when you have the original score for it playing over the new CG Disney Castle. It not being included just baffles me
- the restoration looks fantastic, even if it's just a second pass on the old 2k restoration (I doubt you could notice the difference if they made a new 4K scan). The only reason I wanted the negative rescanned at 4K was so they'd have a new definitive master that is at the highest quality possible, since they mentioned in one of the interviews that these film negatives are starting to deteriorate fast now
- I'm still disappointed with the lack of new supplements

Overall, not a bad release, but it feels like a port of my Platinum Edition DVD

I got mine at Toys R Us on my lunch break. I didn't mind spending an extra $4.00 because I like the Bambi plush it came with! It is a bit small but it is like the size of the DMR plushes offers.

I went to check out Walmarts Bonus Disc today and it's actually an activity book not a disc. I am glad I passed on it at Walmart lol.

Do the $10 Best Buy DMR coupon and the sepreate $10 DMR-only coupon both work at Best Buy, or just one of them?

I was worried about opening mine after reading this, but I had no problem separating the bonus disc from the case. The glue is that gummy kind that is meant to be removed, and with a little care, I slowly peeled them apart. The case and cardboard sleeve have no marks or damage whatsoever.

The movie just came out today, and I'm not planning on getting the Blu-Ray, because I still have the "Platinum Edition" DVD from 2005. I found two clips on YouTube, the opening and closing of the film from the "Platinum Edition" release. The opening that I'm not 100% sure had the cut-short 1990 Walt Disney Pictures logo at the beginning with no RKO logo being shown. If I was not able to get the "Diamond Edition", it starts at the 2006 Walt Disney Pictures logo which is a cut-short version as "jpanimation" mentioned. Here is an example of the opening which was on the "Platinum Edition" DVD that I have.

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/5ID-IbOupM0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

And here is the ending to "Bambi" from the "Platinum Edition" DVD back in 2005, but it does have the special restoration credits shown with no music being played, and finally the silent 1990 Walt Disney Pictures logo. The "Diamond Edition" version which I'm not plan on getting it, had the same end title, but the restoration credits are not being shown, just the cut-short 2006 Walt Disney Pictures logo after the end title. Here is the result.

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/X5UASI5rY7A" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Tell us what you think about these two clips from the "Platinum Edition" release that you've just saw.

Hey, I'm not sure, but can someone post a few comparison pics between the 2011 Diamond release and the 2005 Platinum release? If someone already did that, which page is it on?

Well, Aaron did a comparison on the review, which was posted a few minutes ago. :p

And I'm gonna say that I'm not going Blu with this one, at least for the time being (Disney in the UK like to do Buy-One-Get-One-Free offers, so maybe then, I suppose). As good a film as Bambi is, the new Diamond Edition just seems like a slightly fancier version of the Platinum Edition. :|

Yaaay! Can anyone upload the trailer, per chance?
