I hope he's right. Though after all the delays, I won't get my hopes up.

I wont believe anything until we get an official word from D23 or some other more official source. And I still think this will end up as a rebooted, newly cast, budget slashed Disney + project.

Honestly, this is what I'm coming to expect too. A Disney+ film that will essentially be a remake of the first and have a new and cheaper cast. They might not even keep Menken on it then.

I wouldn't want this to be a Disney+ project either. It would mean a lower budget and less exposure. I think the property is popular enough to be deserving of the big screen.

Maybe a lower budget, Disney+ sequel that focuses on Idina Menzel and James Marsden returning to the “real world”? Idina is unhappy with her happily ever after so she returns to New York with Prince Edward hot on her heels. They fall in love all over again, decide to stay in New York, the end. If they’ve got Menken writing music for TV shows, I don’t see why he couldn’t be brought back for whatever form this takes. Find an excuse for Idina Menzel to sing new Menken music and you’ve got a movie I wouldn’t mind seeing.

It would actually be kinda sad to return to Giselle and, um, Robert?, to find out they’ve become disenchanted with their lives. And this way, you wouldn’t have to worry about paying Amy Adams’ salary.

I'm not sure if that storyline is still in play. Menken used to refer to the film as "Disenchanted" in his previous interviews whereas in the most recent one he said:
Q: So, what do we have coming up? Little Shop of Horrors at the Westside Theater, The Little Mermaid movie coming soon, Disenchanted. Correct?

Alan Menken: or Enchanted 2. I don't know what we're calling it.

Maybe they've backtracked on the idea that Giselle and Robert's happy ending really isn't so happy anymore.

Or maybe they thought the title sounded too similar to Disenchantment, the name of that animated TV series from the creator of The Simpsons.

ComicBook.com's Chris Killian had the opportunity to speak with actor James Marsden, who played Prince Edward in Enchanted, and prodded him about the status of the long-rumored sequel.

"The odds are probably less so on [Enchanted 2] because they've been talking about making that movie for a while but I hope so, I hope we make it," Marsden explained. "I think they're trying to get the script right. And I think Amy's interested, we haven't really spoken about it but I keep I keep hearing about it. But I also don't- you know, we've been fooled before that it was gonna happen, it didn't happen. We should do it before we get too long in the tooth."

Honestly, it seems less and less likely that we'll ever get this film made. In fact, the only reason we've heard about it so long seems to be because the cast (Amy and James) and Alan Menken seem to be really pushing for it.

At least Marsden is being honest and realistic about this film's chances at this point.

Yes, I'm glad he gave us a sincere answer. Well, if the script wasn't working maybe it's better that they haven't made it yet.

Enchanted's Stephen Schwartz offers promising update on long-awaited sequel Disenchanted
https://www.digitalspy.com/movies/a3097 ... ed-update/
In conversation with Digital Spy about his brand new The Prince of Egypt musical, composer Schwartz revealed that 13 years after the popular Disney movie was released, Disenchanted is "definitely" still in the works.

"We had a couple of days of meetings about it just last week, because [songwriter] Alan Menken is here in London, working on the Little Mermaid movie, and I'm here. So the writer and director [Adam Shankman] came over," he said.

"At this point, we don't know whether... we're not greenlit. We don't know if Disney is actually going to make the movie or not.

"But we are definitely working on it with the hope that we'll come up with enough that Disney will feel that they want to go ahead and make the movie. But that is definitely being worked on."

It's a good sign they're still working on it. Let's hope Disney will soon take a break from making garbage for Disney+ and actually greenlight this.

Yes, I'm glad they haven't given up on this. Fingers crossed it finally gets greenlit.

TBH it doesn't sound very promising considering that the movie has not been greenlit and they aren't even sure if that'll be the case. It's been 13 years and Disney hasn't been satisfied with the script so I'm not holding my breath.

Disney probably didn't like the script cause it was a good script. Let's face it - the Disney that made the original more than 10 years ago isn't the same as Disney of today. So I have no hope for this to happen and it does happen it will most likey not be good just like any remake/"sequel"/live action film they make now.

Well, I'll admit that, to me, the original Enchanted isn't exactly a masterpiece in the writing department.... Amy Adams and James Marsden lift the thing along with a couple of great Menken songs ("Happy Working Song" is funny and "That's How You Know" is the best moment in the film, the others are meh).

The third act suffers immensely from awful one liners by Narissa as if she's final boss in a video game such as: "We’re coming to the end of our story now. Are you at the edge of your seat, Giselle, just dying to know how it ends?". They should make her silent after she turned into a dragon like Maleficent.

According to Variety, the sequel is currently in pre-production:
Adam Shankman will direct “Hocus Pocus 2” at Disney Plus, sources tell Variety.

Shankman is currently in pre-production on Disney’s “Enchanted” sequel, titled “Disenchanted.” It’s yet to be determined which film will be in the works first.
