Having never watched a Disney film in another language before I can't say for certain, but is it possible that they are treated the same way Live Action Musicals are. That is to say the spoken dialogue is dubbed, but the songs remain in english?

No, Disney Animated movies are always completely dubbed, including the songs.

There are DVDs that are designed to help you adjust the tv to look it's best, but I doubt your mom would want one.

Maybe the Gamma control was off, or something?

Don't worry, it's just the DVD. I get the same graininess whenever I watch BatB and some of the colors seem dull at times. But the HD trailer compared to the DVD looks absolutely pristine and vivacious. Have you tried blu ray or DirecTV HD/Comcast/etc. on it yet? It really unlocks the true potential of your HDTV.

I was looking at the PatF DVD thread, (which if you haven't you should) but there's new scans of pictures and everything including the booklet. And this is one of the pages:

I don't know, but could this be a preview of the cover or is this just a poster kind of thing?

Whatever it is, I really don't like it.

rodis, Im going to go out on a limb and say you probably have the dvd player hooked up through RCA cables? at least go for S-video or component on an HD set, or it'll look like crap.

The idealistic part of me is saying that should be the cover for BATB. :)

Yes, I think it's actually quite amazing! :D

That Beauty and the Beast pic from the booklet looks like an ad straight out of 1991. :D

I know it's iconic, but maybe they could try a cover that isn't the ballroom scene... just an idea. It's been done.

Then again, that's like asking for a "Lady and the Tramp" home video release that isn't the spaghetti scene.

So do I, actually. It's very neat, colorful and cute.

The logo needs a major makeover and the rose needs to be taken off of the stairs, but I like the general look of it !

I would like a darker cover, to reflect the overall mood of the film.

I think that Belle on that picture looks off-model. I'd prefer a different cover than that.

Honestly, I think both she and the Beast are a bit off, maybe even Lumiere too. Once again, this looks like something that stepped out of 1991 to me, still very much the familiar characters but in a slightly different style. I'd like it as a print or something but not as the actual cover.

I feel the same way. I wished they'd incorporate the 1991 logo in the movie, as it's the BATB logo I like the most.

Me too, cause "Beauty and the Beast" isn't only light-hearted. But the new cover (if that's going to be the final cover) isn't bad at all. It could've been worse.

I told my cousin who has a 4 year old who LOVES Disney Princesses, that Beauty and the Beast is coming out on DVD this fall. :)

Even though I own the original DVD, I will definitely buy the BLU RAY. Just wish there was a way to get it in iPod format (its the one Disney Princess movie I'd love to watch on my iPod). I did end up getting Sleeping Beauty before it was vaulted.
