It's not overly shiny, no. But none of the animated classics have been, so we should be happy about that. Otherwise, they'll all need to be re-released with NEW! Shiny Slipcover For a Limited Time Only!

Thanks, Luke. I don't mind if it's shiny or not. I'm just happy that it has a slipcover.

It's a pity that the Pocahontas slip cover doesn't open like a book.

Yeah, then again they only do that for Platinum Editions. I would've been a little pissed if they did do it for Pocahontas because then, why should Mulan not have a book type Slipcover.

I now promptly put all my DVD's into a big holder/case, so my actual cases go in storage, but I still like the slip covers bc they are cool looking, lol.

I don't think the slipcovers that open like a book are only for platinum. The Lion King one and a half, The Lion King 2, Alice In Wonderland, Mary Poppins: 40 Anniversar Edition all open like a book.

I think Pocahontas should have gotten one if there are sequels out there that got one.

I have a question about the Bambi slipcover:

I bought the movie and it came with the slipcover, but the slipcover that mine came with uses a glue-like material to secure the front flap. I know that Aladdin uses velcro to hold the flap in place.

Is this how all the Bambi slipcovers are, or did I get a defective one?

I think it's like Finding Nemo as it doesn't open like a book. Up here, Bambi still has slipcovers and I just bought Finding Nemo and it still had a slipcover.

All the slipcovers that I've seen are just that-they're covers that slip right off the DVD. Why would they use velcro or a glue-like material?

They have a front flap that opens like a book, this part is secured to the front of the DVD with velcro, or in the case of Bambi (that is if mine is not defective and missing the velcro) with glue.

You're not the only one mine came with the same glue-like stuff. I pealed it off cuz it was annoying me.

I haven't tried to call them yet, but I need 3 cover inserts cause I bought the movies at Blockbuster. I rented them and noticed that they said own for only $18.00 more! I need the Inserts for Snow White Platinum, Pinnochio Gold Collection and Fantasia 60th Anniversary edition. I heard somewhere that they can get them. Has anyone else ever asked them about them?

Well, we must remember that some non-platinums got a book slip-cover at some point in time; Mary Poppins, Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland spring to mind.
Alice wrote:Why isn't this thread a sticky??
Well, I think that the webmaster Luke is a bit annoyed at the fact that threads about decoration are more popular than fairly important threads about bonus features and aspect ratios, so I think that he's secretly rebelling against this thread by refusing to sticky it.

The Bambi I have seen recently all have velcro. I ordered all 3 Lion King slipcovers last Wednesday and I received them in the mail today. One week. Yay!

aww, man. When I read the words "Bambi", "velcro", "slipcover" in your post, it brought back memories-- when everyone was SHOCKED about their slipcover not having Velcro! :o (well, i'll speak for myself on that part! ;))

There are many answers to your questions, and they are all found here!

Of course if you go into any Wal-mart now, they have most of the Bambi DVD slipcovers with the black velcro. :)
