Snow White wrote:The cover of "The art of" will show that Tangled will be only a parody à la Shrek... What I watched about the movie (trailer, etc) sounds like a Shrek ripoff... "The Art of" will confirm the movie will be a Shrek ripoff.

I'm very very disappointed...

Concept art are beautiful but the final movie isn't like this... I think it will be only a parody like Enchanted or Shrek or Happily N'Ever After or Hoodwinked... the title is like them, the trailer is like them, the book "The Art of" confirm that.

So, Disney made a great mistake to remove Keane and Wellins and shelved their beautiful dark version of the fairy tale... I don't like work of Byron Howard and Nathan Greno... it's too stupid what I watch and know about their version of Rapunzel...

Mawnck, you watched the movie in storyboards, so is it a parody? is it only a humor movie? I think Tangled have a lot of gross and vulgar comedy (like Shrek) and not heart or great moments...
Absolute nonsense! There is plenty of evidence and reports from people who have seen the movie to know for sure that the movie is completely NOT like Shrek! AT ALL! And that in tone is feels similar to the real Disney classics. You assume a lot based on the very little footage of the movie that we have seen, which is never a clever thing to do!

According to spoilers who have revealed about how the story will be told in Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," it could be worth telling, and more promising. Despite the name change, the story does seem truer to the fairy tale, even though it is told differently. By the way, from the looks of how the story goes, it is better off, "Rapunzel," than, "Tangled," even though it is official to change the name to get the boys to see the movie, but enough about that. If Disney really want to emphasize both Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, why does the story present Rapunzel's past, besides Flynn's, unless they are about to show it in the movie. In fact, according to Mawnck, there is a story about Flynn Rider's past. Probably best to not reveal it, or else it could spoil the whole story already. Anyways, yes the story is truer to Disney classics.

Dear Alessio... why you said this? We don't know Snow White...
Alessio, you know that we hope Rapunzel will be great and we know that the movie isn't like Shrek...

To answer to Snow White: have confidence in Rapunzel, it will be good.

Little thing: we also don't like too much the cover of The Art of Tangled... we want something more classic, it's too caricatural, but we hope the cover isn't the final cover and Disney change the cover...

In my opinion, the final look of the "I See the Lights" should be the Art of Tangled cover.

If can have a powerful ballad if Mandy Moore learns to SING broadway style. She has a quite voice;but if she can belt it out, like Ellen Green, she can sound amazing. It's not Alan Menken's fault that it doesn't please you.Alan Menken knows how to experiment and when to stay classical.Just because it's inspired by 60's rock, doesn't it's going to sound like shit. Many bands like the sounds of the sixties.
examples:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EExTZwKDhc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7GU3msz72I
and the extremely trippy Animal Collective http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxvGHQHiY70&feature=av2e

You're probably wondering:"Candy, why do you listen to this trippy shit?"

I think Mandy Moore will do a fine job with the songs. Just listen to her rendition of "Secret Love":

And "Only Hope" from her film Walk to Remember is quite lovely too.

Glad you guys think the same about the 'Disney Heroes' relaunch !

And I hope that isnt the final cover for the Art Of book .... I'm sure it wont be, but its a shame they used that even for the mock-up. I hope they use the one of Rapunzel on top of her tower, with the wind blowing all around her. The Princess and the Frog Art Of book had a beautiful cover; I would hope this would follow in the same vain.

I imagine that Rapunzel's singing voice will sound more like "Only Hope" than the other songs already posted.

well hold on there, as good as Alan is, let's not credit him alone for songs from Little Shop of Horrors. Howard Ashman was a key creative ingredient in this collaboration.

Hi everyone, I've been following the Rapunzel/ Tangled threads for some while now, but thought it's about time I added my 2 cents to the discussion.

Here's my theory regarding the Kingdom's name of 'Corona'.
The kingdom seems to have some sort of connection to the sun, seeing as the Golden Flower is supposed to have grown where "a drop of liquid sunlight fell to the earth" (Can't remember where I read that, sorry).

The word 'corona' comes from the Latin word for 'crown' (there's a crown in the Cornoa Beer's logo).
The word is also used to describe the 'crown' or halo, visible to the naked eye around the sun during a solar eclipse. Wikipedia article on Coronas.

I believe that the Kingdom is named for this Solar Phenomena rather than the beer, it makes far more sense when we compare it with what we already know about the flower.

Some of you have found Rapunzel merchandise at Target, right? I was just there, and I didn't see any! :(

That sucks! They have a TON of dolls at mine!!! 4 different Rapunzel's, a little mini doll and the horse. Oh and at Toys R Us they have a big head of her for the girls to style her hair.... No Flynn yet though! :(

Totally agree, Ashman is a god. BUT, concerning "Suddendly Seymour", the music is so fantastic, i would have goosebumps even if they were only singing "blablabla bla bla blabla blablabla bla bla bla bla"....

Alan's MUSIC is the one. I pray for Tangled as good songs and WONDERFUL score...

Yes i think you are right. The kingdoms name does have something to do with the sun. On most merchandise and concept art taken at the WDAS there is always a sun. .... Now it all makes sense :)

Where the lighting department is in its final 6-8 weeks of work for Tangled ...

and morale is lower than a dachshund's belly, since most of the artists and technicians were given their notices in July, and layoffs now loom.
And thoughts from a commenter:
What about all the people who are thrilled that Tangled is the best feature to come out of the RED (Roy E Disney) building in over a decade? Or that it's the best thing they've ever worked on? Sure we're exhausted but making something great isn't expected to be easy. If it was, every other studio would do it.

Morale is - tired. Tangled is something we're all proud of and we can't wait to get it out there. I'd say that sentiment goes for people staying or going and sometimes pride of accomplishment can ease the sting of not being carried until the next show needs to ramp up. The reality of where the studio is right now is that in order to survive, it can't stay big until it makes a profit.

I think it depends on what Target you go to. I went one Target and they had a lot of Tangled merchandise, then I went to another Target and they had very few Tangled merchandise. :)

Isn't that like Kingdom of the Sun? It would make much more sense now about the lights. Though I still am curious what are keeping the lights from falling? Does anyone see strings?
