I HATE YOU NOW !!! I can't believe you would disagree with me!
LOL I dont mind at all

! You have your opinion and I have mine. You prefer Rapunzel and I prefer Tangled. You make very good points and I was on your side once about this whole title thing...
Anyways I wasn't expecting any new material (although I would love to see some), but I thought it would at least be listed on the Disney Animation website...

Don't you guys know? They're having 2 separate titles. The boys will call it "Tangled" and the girls will call it "Rapunzel."

In France the title has been changed from
Rapunzel to
Princess Rapunzel.

Rapunzel or Tangled

Well...Babaloo...
I don't really...like to just say it's my "opinion"...
I really believe that the title change is wrong. A big thing is principle. The directors wanted Rapunzel. Walt would have wanted Rapunzel.
But marketing, marketing, is what changed the title, when they don't even know if it's a good decision, and there's lots of points of why it's not a good decsion, France calling their film Princess Rapunzel just being the latest one!
But, I don't just believe it's opinion. I believe that what they did is wrong, just flat out wrong. I'm going to say...it is wrong.
And I still like you, of course!

Perhaps... maybe in the end the title change is a good thing.
Let us suppose that the Disney marketeers are right. Boys will see the title Tangled and go "Cool! Let's see it!" They buy tickets. The film makes over 200 million...
Wouldn't that be nice for the fairy tale genre? Maybe they'll dust off and reuse their Snow Queen concept afterall.
I am OK with the title if THAT IS THE ONLY THING THAT IS BEING TAMPERED WITH. If the film ends up having too much action, too many "boyish" situations, I will be let down. Being a male myself, you might think is an odd thing to say. But to be honest, I have seen waaaaay too many boy-focused films this decade. I want to see change.

Yeah....particularly Dreamworks and Sony cci films like Planet 51....or Fox's Ice Age films....and the pixar films I never really felt there was a too boyish or too girly of films.....I still think Jesse Ventura needs to feature this on his Conspiracy Theory show about Disney and animation....

Some kind of horror doll.
Um, yeah. The resemblance is uncanny.

I would say she more closely resembles Talking Tina the killer doll from the Twilight Zone.

and later:
Just got back from preview of Disney's 'Tangled' - saw a lot of sketches and unrendered footage, but it looks really awesome
Trying to get more info... will keep you all posted!

Actually, in that pictures, she looks like Lily st. Regis,
The "horror-doll like" character in Annie:

Disney Goes Open Source with Ptex
http://www.awn.com/articles/article/dis ... page/1%2C1
Ptex is a UV less texture mapping system that not only enhances the upcoming Tangled but is also offered as an open source file.
Naturally, Ptex is integral to Disney's next animated feature, Tangled. "It's pretty much on the surface of every object," Hendrickson says. "The interesting thing with Disney is that…we have a lot of people who do painting and texture assignment on our geometry is our bread and butter-- it's how we do what we do. And so this technology is an enabler for us and also an enabler for the rest of the industry. It's just good for us to put this type of technology out there so that when people come to Disney when we recruit will know more about what Ptex is rather than having to go through a laborious training session."

Flynn Rider, the doll edition ...

Short post: I rambled around the first floor of the hat building today, pausing at different doors to talk to staffers. The lighting crew for Tangled is now immersed in the picture. (They are turning and burning to get a trailer out in short order.)
I had a chance to look at different Tangled images up on different computer screens, and trust me here, the picture is going to be great looking ....
The challenge for the crew is that there's a lot of work compressed into a short amount of time. Everyone is working at maximum capacity. Some are fretting about hitting the deadlines. One person said to me:
"I wish the studio was releasing this farther away from Harry Potter ..."
... And Mr. Rider's grandfather ... with the padre of the Skipper ("Gilligan's Island") there on the left ...

Over at imdb.com someone is saying that we'll get the first big trailer for "Tangled" with "Prince of Persia" and not "Toy Story 3" as was originally planned. They figure that "Prince of Persia" has a bigger male audience they might not get with TS3.
In all respects this is a good decision, this means we'll get the trailer sooner now. "Prince of Persia" is released on may 28th, and TS3 on june 18th, so we'll get the trailer almost 3 weeks sooner. I'm sure the trailer will still be attached to TS3 as well...
If true, then this is exciting news! We're only 2 months away from the big trailer... In which case we'll be getting more info and visuals soon!

I think that's the same guy that said something about the Tangled teaser being on the G-Force DVD, which wasn't true. I wouldn't believe it yet.

Since this is the thread for posting our changes to pictures of Rapunzel...
Okay, I know this is just the prototype and not the final design of Rapunzel, and we aren't even sure what design it's for at what part of the movie, but if you are interested in designs I'd love to know your thoughts on this:
Okay, this is the Rapunzel doll in what I think is supposed to be her Princess outfit, as opposed to her peasant one in the tower, as she is wearing the crown and it just looks more princessy:
But I didn't think it looked right because the bodice looks like a peasant's. It's the same kind of criss-crossed lace design that she has with her tower peasant outfit, and I think thar criss-cross laced looks like a corset or something only a peasant would wear, not a princess. But I am not certain, if anyone knows, that would be cool.
I also didn't think her crown looked right. It almos looks like somethig from Russia than Germany as this tale originated from and is supposedly set, or even the French or European influences the setting and art seems to have. Or it just looks like a made-up child's play crown than someting a real princess would wear, Disney's past princesses had crowns that looked more historically accurate.
So, I decided to give her bodice decoration that not only looked more princesses like, but I think also nicer and matching the vertical stripes on her puffy sleeves. I also changed her crown to what I think looks more real and better:
That's the first version. Here is the second version:
I like the first version I did better, but do you like them? Do you think they look more princessy, more accurate, or just better?
