^Tuche, but why would anyone expect the storyline to really be that original. What really makes the movie entertaining(for most of its viewers and reviewers) is how it handles the material that it's given. You can't go into such a film and expect surprises, and the director has a clear understanding for that.

And Like I said, it's not a musical or a comedy, and that's what's refreshing. Also, it scares mostly adults.

The visuals, I'll agree with you on. Voices were well done, too, IMO.

I didn't know India produced anything else besides Bollywood-musicals. Luckily, they do. This has to be one of the most intruïging gangster/crime movies I've ever seen. The acting was superb and the music was amazing.

Princess Protection Program- Funny, and it made me cry, too. I really enjoyed it.

Princess Enchanted Tales: Follow Your Dreams- I'll post my thoughts in the appropriate thread. I enjoyed Jasmine's story more than Aurora's, but it was a fun way to pass 56 minutes of my life.

Every new viewing is a matter of trying to figure out how poetic it really is. It's impossible to see anything Bill Paxton does as poetic. Also, the little boy who is oversexed because he's like 100 years old - being a vampire and all. Too silly at times. Basically, I don't care anything about the gang and their showing off. So, yeah, it's half western. That's the half I could do without. But, if you stick with it- it's got a great happy ending (couldn't have hoped for a better resolution) and the stuff with Mae and Caleb alone is amazing. If you want a well-rounded education in vampire films- this one is essential. There is stuff here you won't get anywhere else. Especially Mae as a character.

Time for me to re-watch that one. Visually, it's one of the best looking movies I've ever seen. That makes it worth at least checking out.

Yep, you did! I think we were talking about Election or something, which is also a very good film!

Southland Tales - From the director of Donnie Darko, came this war movie/black comedy, that I think far surpassed Donnie. Sarah Michelle Gellar was hilarious, and Dwayne Johnson, Sean William Scott, Justin Timberlake, and Mandy Moore were great as well. Amy Poehler was funny in what she was in, which wasn't very much. Reccomended. 7/10

The Graduate

For the third time (I think). Still one of the funniest films I've ever seen, with a great performance by Dustin Hoffman. And I LOVE that music! (Big fan of Simon & Garfunkel.)

This is a fabulous movie that makes you smile a lot. The French can be really funny.


Treasure Planet with my mother. She wasn't too enthousiastic. All those monsters were overdone, to confusing to follow the story, too many characters, she was too old for that...though she seemed to like captain Amelia...Well, I can understand: TP does have a frantic pace at times, but that's the case with many contemporary Disney films. And that robot is irritating as hell.

Pieces of April - Loved it! Highly reccomended to fans of good family comedy-dramas. Starring Katie Holmes, Patricia Clarkson, and Allison Pill, Katie Holme's character, April, who is living with her boyfriend in a NYC apartment, invites her family over for Thanksgiving dinner, where mayhem ensues.

Roman Holiday - , modern romantic comedies owe SO much to this film...

Kissing Jessica Stein - , charming little indie comedy/drama

A Few Good Men - , Jack Nicholson at his scariest (not counting his role in The Shining)

The Air I Breathe - A neat little indie flick with an all-star cast. Starring Kevin Bacon, Julie Deply, Brendan Fraser, Andy Garcia, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Emile Hirsch, and Forest Whitaker, this moive shined throughout. Definitely Gellar's best role since her Buffy days. I'm honestly surprised she didn't get an Oscar nom for this. Reccomended.

Still the best 'transformation' movie I know (13 year old boy wishes he were big and the next morning he wakes up in the body of a 30 year old man.)

Keeps a neat balance between comedy and drama.

I really should replace that worn recorded video of the film with commercials in between for a decent DVD!

Anastasia Animated film. great movie

I just watched Oliver & Company on DVD. I really like it, and think it's fairly underrated.

Just finished watching Coraline again for a second time, and I must say that now it is my all-time favorite stop-motion animated feature. Henry Selick's style and direction is absolutely beautiful, as well as his screenplay and Gaiman's original story.

By far for me, Miss Spink and Miss Forcible were the highlights of the picture, specifically the Sirens Of The Sea number. I was shocked they managed to get away with that much showing, which made it all the funnier. "A big bottomed sea witch may bob through the waves, to attempt to lead sailors astray. But a real ocean goddess, must fill out a bodice!"
