I didn't even know there was a Goofy set released until last year.

It's a shame that I didn't know about the treasures until after the first few waves already went OOP. I was lucky enough to get a hold of most sets that I want. The only ones I need now are Mickey Mouse in living color 1 and 2, Mickey Mouse in black and white vol 1, The complete goofy, and Silly Symphonies.

They started - and finished - the Goofy set even before they got to Donald!

Annette is the only one that can be easily found. I bought it from amazon when it was 24.99 (and used a gift certificate I had) and a couple of hours later the price went up to 29.99. So I lucked out there.

For Donald vol 4 I managed to get it for $34 shipped at best buy’s site (that hurt a bit as it’s $12 more than I’m used to paying for these things).

Question about that, since one of the discs has 5 seconds missing, was a replacement ever issued out?

As for Dr Syn, seems I’m never gonna be able to get that without paying a lot of money. So I’m out of luck!

Looks like I lucked out on Dr Syn as well. On the 22nd I was randomly looking at Amazon.com and they said they would have more in stock for the 23rd! I quickly snagged one for $24.99. I actually tried to order 2 but they said only 1 per customer limit. Needless to say my order is now preparing to be shipped! Of course now it's not available again.

Further more I received my Donald set from Best Buy. Packaging was horrible basically wrapped in a bubble wrap envelope. Tin is dented on the lower right but shockingly in over all good shape. Can open and close fine. My Annette also arrived from amazon.

Paid more than I normally do for the Treasures but considering how late I got those I don’t think I did too badly! The only one I overpaid a bit for was Donald.

Can't get them to ship it to your store?

For Dr Syn which one should I watch? The TV ep one or the movie one?

Both! First I watched the three episodes. A little while later I came back to it and watched the movie version. Good to watch both versions and see how they 'streamlined' the episodes for the movie.

Definitely both! The TV episodes flesh out the story and characters more and it seems that for theatrical release most of the cuts came from episode #1.

I was at Super Target today and was about to leave after browsing through the DVD section when an employee asked if I needed any help. Not expecting anything to come of it, I asked if they had any of the Dr Syn:The Legend of Romney Marsh sets in the stock room. After a quick check, the clerk came out with two of them! I purchased both for $24.99 apiece, one for me and the other for my brother. I've also earned a valuable lesson; that is, don't procrastinate on the WDT purchases, because getting lucky like this probably isn't going to happen very often.

Both versions of Dr. Syn are presented in 1.66:1 anamorphic widescreen.

Too right! I was pretty fortunate myself paying less than $25 each for 2 of them and less than $35 for 1 of them.

Next time I will be sure to have them for $22-23 each!

Wonder why they're continuing them though. There's basically no shorts left and Blu Rays are becoming more and more mainstream.

I am only half way through DD V4, but I have to agree with the nice clean digital re-master. They look great! I am glad we finally get to see the Cinema-scope cartoons in widescreen.

I never noticed before that the arsenic can placed the way it was, spells out "arse". That is funny!

I do wish they had presented Working for Peanuts(which had VERY washed out colors compared to the other shorts) in 3D though. They could have put a set of 3D glasses in the case. I know that the review said:

The short was released in 3-D in 1953 and again in Disney Digital 3-D last year in front of Meet the Robinsons. Presumably because home video 3-D technology hasn't progressed at the same rate, only the two-dimensional version is included here.

This still could have been shown in the original 1953 3-D technology (red/blue glasses) on a conventional TV. I know that the newer technology used today is not able to work on TV's yet, but the red/blue 3-D technology works.

It appears that I was so pleased to unexpectedly find this DVD set that I made a mistake in the title of my earlier posting. It should read 'Scarecrow' instead of 'Legend', of course.

While reading the booklet that came with it, it occurred to me that the dates this series originally aired coincided with the first three appearances by The Beatles on 'The Ed Sullivan Show' in February, 1964. This is one of the most impressive Sunday lineups in television history IMO, especially considering that only three major networks (ABC, NBC, CBS) existed back then. It might be difficult for folks younger than me to imagine, but I can recall being able to receive perhaps 8 total channels and thinking that was a lot. How times have changed!

To get back on topic, the addition of Dr. Syn, along with The Chronological Donald, Vol4 from wave viii brings my WDT collection total to 22 of the 28 released to date.

Good point on the 3D!

Funny! Actually for me growing up, the word arse was used alot by my mom instead of saying "ass" as she didn't like swearing around me or my sister. I am 39 and she still won't swear around us. And to this day I don't swear around her.

Looking at your avatar Barbossa, all I can picture him saying is "A-R-R-R-Rse".

I have a question about the animorphic widescreen on this disc. Is it just me or is it all messed up? My player never has had trouble with automatically switching other DVD's, but for DD V4, I find I am having to switch modes on my own. And I also am using wide zoom to make them look right instead of full screen. I use my DVD player to watch my Treasures DVD's instead of my PS3 because my DVD player remembers up to something like 30 disc's for resume play. Which is great because all my Treasures DVD's continue where I left off as I watch bits of each one. It's the only reason why I have kept the player.

There is something I have been wondering and I dont know if im just really out of the loop or what .....but while watching the Annette serial bonus features I couldnt help but wonder where the other Sherman Brother has been. Hes been missing from the bonus materials on DVD sets for some time now. Does anyone know why he isnt doing interviews anymore?

Because he lives in London and Disney figures interviewing the Sherman Brother that's still in California is enough?

Then again Disney was able to get an interview with Patrick McGoohan (though I don't know if he went to them or they went to him).

Perhaps he's just not interested in doing the interviews anymore, especially since he'd probably have the same stories as Richard.

I had always wondered that too about the other Sherman brother. I thought maybe he was in ill health to where he couldn't do interviews any longer or he just didn't care. I knew he was still around, but glad to know it is probably more of a distance thing than anything else.
