The point is that those are all film cliche's that they try to avoid but inevitably cant when it comes down to it.

Ahhh, I just saw this for the first time a few hours ago. Such a good movie! Bonus points for Christopher Plummer being in it! I had no idea.

Yeah, but I still think it's unfair to generalize that all movies end with a chase scene. ALL of "Finding Nemo" IS a chase scene. And "Ratatouille" really didn't.

They don't all end with one, they just usually have one somewhere in it. Ratatouille started with one. You know, remmy and the old lady?

Pixar's Facebook page update with the Up 2D short "George and AJ", starring the two men from Shady Oaks. It tells the story of what happened in the city after Carl takes flight. It's great, especially because in the short...

- We see where Russell was hiding when the house took flight
- We see how long Carl and Russell were in South America (one week)
- Carl became a hero for senior citizens, inspiring them to send their houses aways (one by having hundreds of cats pulling the house, another using oxygen tanks to lift off like a rocket)

The short is also available on iTunes.

That short was awesome, by the way!

Hey, UD! I 'm a just joined newbie, but I know my way around the site. I watched Up the day after it came out on DVD, and I must admit, it blew me away. It was just so clever, and it's my 2nd favorite Pixar film (after the Incredibles). Thanks for posting all of these articles you guys!

Something recently was pointed out to me by my gf that I never realized before. Why does it seem like with all the featurettes on the Pixar DVDs/Blu-Rays, it seems like there is never any feature regarding the voice actors? I would have loved to seen interviews with Ed Asner, Chris Plummer, etc talking about their respective characters, but nothing. It was the same way with The Incredbiles DVD. I think it's a shame since to me the voice acting is one of the most important aspects of any kind of animated feature, but it seems always glossed over in the Pixar DVD/ Blu-Rays.

Actually, they do make voice actor featurettes, they just don't include it on the DVD/Blu-Ray for some odd reason...

What I find funny about this is that Pixar is the complete opposite of DreamWorks when it comes to voice actor interviews. DreamWorks always does them, mainly because they hire big name actors and feel the need to highlight them. But with Pixar, they barely hire any big actors, so they don't feel the need to make a big deal over them.

I agree, however, that since they bring the characters to life they should be highlighted more on the DVDs and Blu-Rays.

and also in that other interview Ed Asner he talks about he relates to Carl/Russel buddies in a personal way due to the age and the relationship between a senior and this youth....



I think if I recall correctly I might know what that personal reason is....

After I was on Jay Leno.....We heard on CNN or some news channel maybe it was that Austism Speaks thing...anyway it said that Ed Asner has a grandchild with either Asperger Syndrome or some type of High Functioning Autism....which Im not sure where to look it up but I remember my mom telling me that she saw that after my jay Leno experience...because the segment I was on Jay Leno for was Does that impress Ed Asner.....for those that don't know...

Sorry for bumping the thread but I saw a neat thing after watching the film again with my nephew. There's a hidden Pixar cameo in the movie. When Carl is buying the plane ticket in the "Married life" sequence, there's a pamphlet on the counter. On it is a picture of the beach girl from the short "Knick Knack".

Having seen the film again its been on my mind for quite a while. One thing I noticed that very few reviews have mentioned is that the film has one major theme: that of self fulfillment. Every character in the movie has a goal, a motive, a reason of being. While this can be said about the other Pixar film in Up self fulfillment is a major plot point.

Carl wants to go to Paradise Falls in order to grant his late wife's wish, Russell wants to help Carl because he wants to earn the badge and gain the respect of his father. Kevin wants to gather food and return to her babies. Dug wants to capture Kevin so he gains the respect of his peers. Finally, Muntz wants Kevin for revenge and to gain his credibility back.

Every character is tied to each other thanks to their personal desires and its what gives the plot so much strength. It shows that our own goals can be intertwined with someone else's goals and become catalysts for change.

I asked my parents for the Blu-ray and DVD combo pack for Christmas. Does anyone know if there's any coupons out there at this point?

Meanwhile, my sister only asked for the DVD.

What's the best place to buy this where they could get them at the lowest possible price?
