I'm happy that it is being released this year, who cares whether it says
50th Anniversary Edition or
2-Disc Platinum Edition ?? I'm just excited that we're getting a new Platinum DVD (and Blu-ray disc)! ! !

I agree with you,
as long as it's well put together and not a quick buck DVD job.

Sleeping Beauty's theatrical release was in January of 1959, so the "50th Anniversary Edition" will only be arriving 3 months early.
That would be
false advertising then.
Well, the film was probably ready and complete three months before its premiere. Distribution patterns were different in those days, and most likely so was duplication. So I'm sure if push came to the shove, Disney could justify its labeling.

Actually Disney Duster,it dosn't really,Aurora is still the main star,in Enchanted Tales also the Princess are on the side

,she's still the main star,Phillip isn't pushing her.
I just mean he's pushing her to the side on the cover, not in the movie! Even though he does more than her in the film. On Enchanted Tales they were only on the sides because it was about two princesses, two stars. Neither one could be in the center, they were equals.
He dosn't really do more then her in the film, maybe they should have just put Aurora and Philip together with the fairies like in the book cover.
Maybe but still,i"m just saying that the star and the hero can be on the side

As a long time fan of Sleeping Beauty I am REALLY looking forward to seeing this on Blu-Ray. More special features or not, it should be absolutely stunning. I was re-watching this classic the other night and I find the scenery in this movie to be some of Disney's most beautiful art work - from the Castle - to the forest/cottage. I would have to say Maleficent is my favorite villain so that also makes me appreciate the film even more.

I wish Disney would take this new format as an opportunity to release truly outstanding packages of all the Animated Classics.
What I mean is, create a special banner for blu-ray, that as the animated classics get released, they could all be under the same banner, and be treated with the same grandeur in the way of special features. I guess I'm just a stickler for uniformity.

Does anyone think that Sleeping Beauty might get a Deluxe Edition like The Jungle Book and 101 Dalmatians did in the UK? Hopefully if it does it will make it to the US so that most of you can purchase it. If there is one I hope it is with the Blu-Ray as well, it would be a tough decision if it never.

I just got my copy of 101 Dalmatians platinum today (haven't watched it yet, but really looking forward to it), and I just got so excited when I saw the actual ad for SB Platinum in it in person.
I feel like I can't say enough just how excited I am about this being released again and included in the Platinum! To me, it always has remained my favorite Disney animated feature. Just the beautiful orchestrations, art design, and great characters really sticking out to me. Especially Prince Phillip's character has had a huge impact on me since I was a kid (as you can tell by my user name

). After seeing Snow White and Cinderella, and having the earlier two bland princes, Phillip stood out to me. Especially in his more central and active role in the story, his wit in his interaction with Samson and his father, his romance with Aurora, and his bravery he shows against Maleficent. He was sort of my role model as a kid, and today I still try to act as much of a gentleman I can after being so interested by his character, personality, and role in the film. Although I know that probably sounds really corny.
I just can't wait to finally see this again on DVD and see what will be on it!

I have to agree that Prince Phillip is a stronger prince than the other two you mentioned. He fought for Aurora, and was brave in doing so. One of my favorite scenes in the movie, however, is the speech, I guess you would call it - Maleficent gives Prince Phillip while in the dungeon - the lines are so evil and yet, so calmly spoken.

I love the sleeping beauty soundtrack.

He didn't fought for Aurora,he had to get to the castle to bring the spell and on the way Maleficent tried to stop him.
But let's getting on topic,um,there will be deleted scenes?.
And anybody saw the new Aurora Jewels look for the PE?.

No, Ariel'sprince, I refuse to let you say Phillip did anything less than fight to save his true love. Yes, he got help from the fairies, and couldn't do it without them, but he did chop through the thorns and fight the dragon until he needed their magic, and he was brave enough to go against an evil fairy who could kill him with one blast. If he rode away instead of saving Aurora, Maleficent may have let him go. But he went to the castle knowing Maleficent would try to kill him.
If it makes you feel any better, it takes two people to fall in love, so in a way, by disobeying her aunts and being with Phillip for a while, she let him love her and that helped save herself with true love. But she didn't know it would end up saving her...
Now...what about an Aurora jewels book?

I"m not saying he's a coward,i just don't think wake someone up is saving him,he is very brave but i still think Aurora is the hero because she's the star and she decided to go to the palace, and since it's love both she and Phillip saved their kingdom by their true love,so about what you said-well,even if she didn't knew it she did saved herself, but i guess we shouldn't get to this subject again?.
Yeah,it's a new products for the new Sleeping Beauty PE

is the philip- maleficent battle with the forces of evil scene not on your version? Or do you just block it out,
because he does quite a little bit more than just wake her up.
but I guess it doesn't really matter, you have it firmly fixed in your head, and there is absolutely no proof anyone could produce that would change it.

Hmm,back on topic-So there will be deleted scenes?.

Not to bring this topic up again, but I still stand by Phillip being a hero, and do believe that he did fight no matter what anyone else says. I just don't get what the big issue is with insisting that he isn't. I believe that Aurora and Phillip are both the equal stars in the film and really none is bigger than the other. After all, the fairies still wind up with most of the screentime in the film anyway. But I'll always stand up for Phillip since he was my role model as a kid, even though I know it sounds pretty pathetic that my hero was an animated character.
Anyway, back on the topic of the movie:

Actually, in the book Mouse Under Glass, there was mention of a scene that was storyboarded but eventually cut from the film, that gave a reason why Phillip was in the forest. Hubert and his kingdom was hosting some kind of scavenger hunt that led Phillip out into the woods. I don't know much else about it, other than it was eventually cut because they weren't sure where to place it properly in the film so it would pace okay. I hope some mention of this scene makes it onto the DVD.

You know what,PrincePhillipFan? i think you're right, both Aurora and Phillip are the heroes

after all, they both saved the day,but right, let's not get this topic again

.
About the deleted scenes-that's neat

,there's anything about Aurora, too? i heard in IMDB that Aurora was supposed to bleed after she touched the spindle,it will be neat to show the Phillip scene in the DVD

as far as the Prince discussion - i'll just stay on topic even though I agree with Someday... and Disney Duster. But I guess that's just a matter of opinion.
