Well, they have done worse haven't they? Single-disc Brother Bear in compromised 1.66:1 with only a small amount of bonus features. No commentaries on the POTC Blu-Rays.

Then again, this does seem far worse. (But I wouldn't put it past Disney US to do the same thing too)

I'm not sure if their pricing policies affect the US (since we never got a reduced SRP for Standard Editions for Doctor Who, aside from the 2-episode "The Sontaran Experiment" and "Black Orchid").

Oh, 2|entertain has gone a lot loopier than their Doctor Who pricing (which I don't really mind - it looks like the 2 disc Battlefield won't have an added premium for example), but their pricing for a lot of other discs coming soon is well out of order - the three disc Merlin Pt 1 for example is £40! That makes the price for both sets £10 more than the Doctor Who season sets!

I'm hoping the omission of the documentary on the press release is another one of their wacky "we don't give a damn about what we sell" incorrect press releases - let's face it, it wouldn't be the first from those crazy people at BVHE UK would it?

Hopefully that's true. I'm still annoyed that they announced commentaries for POTC3 that failed to show up.

Just confused. To what film are you referring by "forerunner"? Ratatouille, or Beauty and the Beast?

I was referring to BatB, however if that's true then it's implied WALL•E is better than Ratatouille. Sorry 90s Disney fans... I grew up in that era and love it as much as anyone, but I enjoyed WALL•E more than any of those films; just as the version of me back then would enjoy it more if he could watch it. Unfortunately, as I lack the ability or technology to send something into the past, that's unlikely to happen

But once again, even this is flawed - the text says 5 episodes (which makes no sense what-so-ever given the total of 13) yet the box art says 6.

And £29.99 for the Legends of Comedy set is just as insane, given that they were budget BBC4 plays and each one only lasts an hour (and no special features are mentioned on the PR).

You know, DVD publishers over here may as well not bother with press releases - they're either wrong (see the spectacularly wrong Doctor Who Series 4 PR linked to off the general 2|entertain one) or so late the discs are virtually in the shops already.

Anyhow, about Wall-E UK - I've been informed that The Pixar Story was passed with the Wall-E supplements by the BBFC - but this doesn't mean it is in the package - as you know stuff can be submitted by not included in the final release (Sleeping Beauty PE for example never got that second Once Upon A Dream music video).

What I find the saddest about the whole sorry Wall-E UK affair is that everybody I mentioned this too actually believes The Pixar Story has been removed from the extras. Not one has said, as their initial thought, the Press Release must be wrong - even though history has shown BVHE UK have a somewhat... suspect, shall we say? track records when it comes to their press releases. Perhaps its because most of the time when their press releases are wrong, they had more stuff listed than the final discs (remember the John Lasseter commentary on Cars? Or The Christmas Show on Alice in Wonderland?)

So what does that say about BVHE UK standing with their British customers when people actually expect to be screwed over?

Hi. I don't know if it was a big concern here, but there's been some complains on some other boards about the cardboard packaging Wall-E came in. I recently saw a copy of the 3 disc Wall-E in a standard case with slipcover at a Bestbuy in Canada.. Anyone seen it elsewhere?

Not personally, but give it time.

Supposedly only the first run was to be in cardboard...after that they'd be plastic.

So Disney's being environmentally conscious...but not too environmentally conscious.

3 DISC Blu Ray Question I need answered ASAP......

I want to buy this, but my 2 computers only have a basic DVD-ROM Drive.......I want it for the digital copy (and the blu ray), but I just thought of something this morning.....is the third disc with the digital copy in the 3 disc blu ray set a standard DVD or a Blu Ray DVD? If its Blu Ray, I'm in trouble cause I wouldn't be able to get the digital copy downloaded.

It is a standard DVD. Good thing too, otherwise my computer would be a tad messed up after putting the DC from TNBC on it.

actually its not even a DVD at all is it? I think its just a CD.

Over at blu-ray.com, some members are reporting that the 3-disc blu-ray is ringing up as $19.99

After many viewings, I finally noticed something. At 57:15 when EVE and WALL-E both hide from GO-4, it ISN'T a coincidence that the two objects right next to them are shaped and almost lighted up like them, right?

Well the good news is it got a Best Animated picture Oscar nom. Unfortunately the outside hopes of an overall best picture nom did not come to fruition. I wonder if any animated film will ever get that consideration since they figure a best animated is good enough. I wonder if Wall E would've gotten one if they didn't have a separate animated category.

Hollywood fails again.

It is very sad that this wonderful film did not get a Best Picture nod, but it was handsomely rewarded regardless! It has 5 nominations, the most ever for a CGI film.

Ah, well ...

Maybe The Princess and the Frog will get a Best Picture nom.
